I actually agree with most of what you say. What I don't agree with is the egotism of someone who doesn't feel he has to respect the others on the board by making his/her posts legible and readable. So put away the bazooka, there, pardner, and use the punctuation/shift keys for the rest of our sakes.
Fine. It just helps me get my posts out a little faster. Would you say most conservatives who support the war in Iraq are against the rebuilding and its cost of hundreds of billions and thousands of our solders lives? It seems like I get attacked by a couple of people when I say that but I think the silent majority agree. I think it made sense to be quiet during the election but now we should be open about our criticisms of the non-conservative nature of Bush. To me its what distinguishes us from the democrats and if Bush doesnt act like a conservative and the Iraqi democracy effort fails what do we have to show for this term?
I am very concerned about Bush's immigration policy. I very much agree that keeping differences within the party oppressed during the election was the wisest course. I also believe that the GOP comes first, just on basic principal. I don't think you can find a candidate that does meet every need you have, agree with every opinion, put forth policies that might meet an individual priority schedule. Although I think Tommy McClintock comes pretty close for me. I also don't think the Iraqi democracy effort will fail. And President Bush, as well as the party as a whole, has done many wonderful things to show for this term. I'm quite proud of all of them. Even ol' Arnie out here.... And thank you so much for the vast improvement of punctuation and capitalization. Your readers are grateful. :)
Im not sure if I said it or not but I was going to say that I wish we could get Bush out and put in McClintock instead. I really enjoyed listening to him during the debates.
It sounds like a tall order now to try to help all the other countries in the world improve their quality of life. There are many other countries in this world where people have it as bad and worse than the Iraqi people. Just like my reasoning against most social service programs I dont think building up other peoples countries is going to work out well. The best intentions may be there but things seem to be appreciated more if people do it for themselves. Its also difficult to try to build a nation on our principles but give people who dont live like we do the control over the government. The people over there are muslims so our form of peace, freedom, democracy and human rights will not be easy to instill in them even if we had total control over the government. Id like to think it will catch on but I dont think it will.
The problem is the very human emotion of jealousy. They want it. OR they want to make sure YOU don't have it either. No matter what, it spells trouble.
Yep, and giving it to them isnt going to help. I feel like if anything we are building up a people so they can be a more powerful enemy to us in the future. You cant hope to do a nation a favor (even a huge favor like we are doing in Iraq) and have them remain loyal and appreciative of your help indefinitely. If Europe were more powerful than us they would probably come over and invade and then people wouldnt be sayng to me what a great idea it was to help rebuild Germany after WW2.
LOL. Good point!
Thanks for the ping SheLion. I love ZOT threads. No better way to start off the week than with a good belly laugh.
Well, there could be some truth to this. 4 years ago, when my state raised the cigarette taxes one more time, costing me $45-$50 dollars a carton for my premiums, I threw my hands in the air, and took the advise of many Freepers: ROLL YOUR OWN. I have been rolling my own for over 4 years; not paying into the state coffers and just loving the savings.
So, there could be some truth to this thread. I know the outrageous taxes on a legal product is what threw 'me' over the edge to an alternate means.
Awesome gif Trooper! you make that??? |
Oh, my! I'm so scared! Save me! Save me!
No it's been on the web for a couple of years, but I dragged it off one of my old storage disks to have something for late ZOT postings.
If I have time tonight, I may shop it to put a grave under his feet to add some pizazz.
hehe... well, it's great... I hadn't seen it before.
So was this a near last post before you went back to the Taliban?
The end has already arrived for liberalism, deal with it.
I recognize that I often post my conservative opinion that Bush is wasting our money and lives in this rebuilding of Iraq.
How is this a conservative opinion? Did we all have a meeting and decide that this was going to be our platform?
I have to realize that anyone who has a problem with that idea is going to resort to any childish and insignificant attack they can on me.
I have a problem with you trying to present it as a conservative idea yes.
For this reason I will use the caps lock so they can focus on other inane reasons to attack me rather than focusing on the issues in my post.
If you can not be bothered to even attempt to communicate effectively I must conclude that you have nothing of worth to say. If you did then you would have tried to make your post something besides an unreadable mess.
This leads to the conclusion that even you don't put much stock in whatever it was that you were trying to peddle.
Im curious to see how you liberals that call yourselves conservatives will act when us conservatives are in a position that we supported Bush but everything he is doing in Iraq is going to fail.
I am curious about how you reached that conclusion. The problems in Iraq are confined to a small section of the country with the rest, especially in the north going quite well. I understand pessimism that not every thing will go smoothly but thinking that every thing will fail is not a position supported by logic.
By the way in my attempt to help you communicate more effectively I would like to point out that "you liberals that call yourselves conservatives" is not consistent with the "us conservatives" used later in the sentence. Either we are conservatives and therefore are actually not liberals or we are liberals in which case the use of "us" as a plural including the person you are addressing is improper.
Unless of course you are indeed a liberal calling himself conservative. In that case the us is proper.
How will we twist things to try to win the next election?
Why should we need to? Not everything in life is a stunning success you know. We have had enough success in Iraq already that there is no need to even attempt to twist things.
And more importantly why would we want to? Twisting and shading and lying is a liberal trick. It is not our style.
dont want a communist (democrat) to win so I hope Bush has something better planned for the future.
That is a very vague statement.
Rather then just say that you hope for something better tell us what would you like to see that would be better.
How would it be better? What are the costs involved? What would the benefits be? Is it even possible once you take into account national and international mindset and goals?
Do you have any plan that guaranteed success? Please share.
...as a perfect example of how not to post. Don't use all caps, DUmmy.
I am..thanks :)
