Islamist Threat to Public Schools in Columbia, South Carolina? On January 6, 2004, Anti-CAIR published a Press Release concerning Minhaj Arastu, the lead contact for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) chapter in Columbia, South Carolina.
Why are we revisiting this issue? It’s the result of a complaint Anti-CAIR (ACAIR) received from the parent of an Irmo High School, Columbia, SC student. Why is Irmo High School important? …Mijhaj Arastu is the teacher the parent is concerned about.
In his capacity of teacher at Irmo High School, Mr. Arastu:
1. Required the students to create a pamphlet which would teach people about Islam.
2. Spent an inordinate amount of time discussing the “5 pillars of Islam”.
3. Had an “Orthodox Christian” priest speak to the class…who informed the students that all religions are based on Islam.
4. Told students that the United States is a Judeo-Christian-Muslim” nation…according to the beliefs of the founding fathers.
5. According to the student, Arastu is a passionate Muslim and is the sponsor of the school Muslim student group and was instrumental in having a portion of the school library set aside for Muslim students to pray each day. (There are no such accommodations for other faiths.)
So…we have a CAIR officer, sponsoring the school’s Muslim student group, bringing in speakers who falsely claim that the founding fathers desired the fledgling United States to be a “Judeo-Christian-Muslim nation”…requiring students to create Muslim pamphlets…learning about the five pillars of Islam…
Just when do we Americans wake up to the threat of militant Islam in our public schools? When is “enough…enough”? What will it take to get parents, teachers, administrators, and the public incensed to the point where positive steps are taken to protect our children from the false indoctrination and perversions of radical Islamists?
We saw with our own eyes the evil of radical Islam on 9-11…we’re seeing militant Islam rear its filthy head in Europe on an almost daily basis…our soldiers are returning to our country in body bags as the result of militant Islamists hell-bent on earning a place in paradise by killing “infidels”…just why do we put up with militant Islam in the United States? At what point will the straw break…and what will happen when it does?
We invite our readers to read an excellent article by Dr. Daniel Pipes on the issue of Islamist influence in the public schools.The gist of Dr. Pipe’s article is that Islamists are deliberately targeting our school systems in an attempt to spread propaganda to students in the tenets of Islam.

UNBELIEVABLE. Where did you get all that info? I'd like to check my State to see if it is blanketed like that too.
I just called the principal's office and he was unavailable. So I talked with his secretary. She said Mr. Arastu has been gone all of this year. She said she thinks he went back to his native country, which she thinks is India. I asked if they still have an area set aside in their library for Muslim students to pray and she said she was unsure. She says she knew nothing about the other matters in the ANTI-CAIR article. I told her I would call the principal back tomorrow.

Great! If more people thought like that and actually followed through with action, in numbers, we probably could rid the public school systems of a few of it's ills...most importantly today, the elevation of islam as 'acceptable'.
I realize not everyone has unlimited funds...however, I do see plenty of people who say that private school is too expensive...while they move into large homes and drive nice cars.
Seems like more conservatives should either sacrifice financially or participate in revolting againt the government schools.
We still live in the modest/nice home we moved into 7 years ago in order to have the extra $1000 per month to send 2 kids to Christian school. Could have bought more house, but decided not to.
BTW, glad to have you on our team. My wife was also a 'seeking' liberal when I first met her. She's a full fledged VRWC member now! Looks like you have come a long way. Congratulations!
Thank you; yours is one of many very gracious welcomes to FR and it really is wonderful after years of being disparaged by liberals because I did not toe the party line on every issue. My husband and I would sacrifice gladly if it would give us enough $ for private school, but we live pretty humbly. I'm praying, literally, for a school voucher program to pass in our area, because that would really help. I would still fight the public school fight though, because we don't want the public schools to go unchecked and become terrorist mills, full of willing martyrs and I don't think that is an exaggeration.
Congratulations to your wife for finding the light! It feels great, after years of darkness.

I see someone answered you while I was out chasing the dollar. Many of these guys are coming out of prisons, where Islam has gained the real foothold in the US, and starting mosques. I am sure there are exceptions but this is the real hate America crowd. If they ever get fully organized and financed, we will have our very own Falluja right here.
We need to use the RICO (racketteering) laws against CAIR.

Yes, I think that's how all this is going to have to proceed.
This has to be taken out of the realm of "religion" -- that way is doomed.
These actions by various moslem groups are all attacks on the structure of the US.
It can't be allowed to continue.

It certainly would be nice if someone in a position to do something, would actually do something along these lines.
Instead, it seems there's just a lot of foot-dragging.
I think everyone is just waiting till things get much worse before there is any official action.
