No good deed goes unpunished.
Probably a bit extreme, but I'm reminded of how Patton was railroaded post-VE Day.
I hope others learn from this lesson.
BS...
I guess they should have killed him by overdosing him with morphine huh?
this is beyond b.s. nad is goingot lead to a lot of peopel that where thinking of joining the military changing thier minds
That would fall under 'rendering aid', unless the overdose was intentional.
Shoot someone playing dead, or if he does something suspicious--that's fair game.
Don't shoot him 'cuz you're going to feel bad about the way he's gonna die. He's not going to care very soon--it's not about your feelings....
Re: "severe abdominal wounds"
I had read that half his skull was gone.
Just damn.
Some people have a hard time understanding that this nice antiseptic description
a 16-year-old Iraqi male found in a burning truck with severe abdominal wounds
is really referring to a wailing ball of blood, fire and screams, trapped in a burning tomb with his internal organs draining into his lap. I think Sergeant Horne did a very human thing in a very inhuman situation.
yea, I guess this punishment is correct, loss of pay, reduced in rank to private, dishonorable discharge... All for shooting a man that was going to die anyhow... In my book thats is HONORABLE, and it would have been dishonorable to have sat and watched and laughed while the Iraqi died... He got screwed by the system, plain and simple..
Would you shoot someone severly injured in a car accident?
Yeah? Where's your medical degree from?
I don't want to see euthanasia of prisoners become a part of US military doctrine
Euthanasia usually isn't that popular on this board.
Get this guy the best lawyer, I'll contribute!
It's all euthanasia.
These terrorists are psycotic beyond redemption. It's a mercy killing in every case.
Can I bust a cap in Terry Schiavo? She ain't getting any better and will probably die pretty soon....
As beautiful as the thought in your head was it just did not make it onto the screen. ; )
That's almost exactly what the Totenkopf units said about the jews in the camps.
It's also what Pol Pot said about intellectuals and 'The Bourgeoise'.
We are professional soldiers, not war criminals and murderers....
In what other cases do you support mercy killing?
