Living Under Fascism
Universalists Unitarian Association ^ | 7 November 2004 | Davidson Loehr

Posted on 12/10/2004 6:53:35 PM PST by TWohlford

...the style of governing into which America has slid is most accurately described as fascism, and that the necessary implications of this fact are rightly regarded as terrifying.

...it is not hard to predict where a new fascist uprising will lead. ...The actions of fascists and the social and political effects of fascism and fundamentalism are clear and sobering. Here is some of what’s coming, what will be happening in our country in the next few years:

* The theft of all social security funds, to be transferred to those who control money....

* Rising numbers of uninsured people in this country...

* Increased loss of funding for public education combined with increased support for vouchers...

* More restrictions on civil liberties as America is turned into the police state necessary for fascism to work

* Withdrawal of virtually all funding for National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting System.

* The reinstatement of a draft,

* More imperialistic invasions: of Iran and others...

* More restrictions on speech...

* Control of the internet...

* Efforts to remove the tax-exempt status of churches...

* Tighter control of the editorial bias of almost all media...

* Continued outsourcing of jobs...

* Moves in the banking industry to make it impossible for an increasing number of Americans to own their homes.

* Criminalization of those who protest, as un-American, with arrests, detentions and harassment increasing.

* ...it will be illegal or at least dangerous to say the things I have said here this morning.

Nary a word of Scripture, nor even a mention of the traditional teachings of Christianity. Just this person's opinion. I can only imagine having to sit through this sermon without jumping up and challenging this stuff.

This is an edited excerpt, and is worth the read. It was posted on a private listserv by a true liberal atheist (and he's got the scars to prove it). It is the best insite into the paranoid fears of the left I've seen.

Except for a couple items on the list that are absolutely not happening at all, these items have nothing to do with Fascism.

"internet" should be capitalized.

" * Continued outsourcing of jobs..."

When I think Fascism, I think outsourcing. What an idiot.

But John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi told us it was a breach of the separation of church and state for a religious leader to speak out on political issues. Are Unitarian ministers exempt?

The Unitarian-Universalists are the most liberal, opportunistic pick-and-choose religious doctrines to accommodate a life of sin that there ever was.

Unitarian-Universalism isn't a religion; it's a delusional collective of far Left nonsense disguised as a theology.

Unitarians are a bunch of @$$holes. I know a bunch of them. While I am friends with them (well, really acquantances), they are nuts. They "celebrate" all holidays and dont believe in God, but in some "higher spirit". TWoholford, the reason this guy didnt mention Christianity is because they arent Christians, just a bunch of liberals (that is what they are) pretending to be religious.

This is like reading DU cr*p, after someone has corrected the spelling and punctuation, but left the "logic" and "facts" as they were. Almost every bullet point in this screed can be taken apart like a $20 suit. I'll just use the first one as an example.

" * The theft of all social security funds, to be transferred to those who control money...." This author has to be deaf, dumb, blind and stupid not to know that there NEVER WERE any social security funds. From day one, retiree one, benefits have always been paid with current funds. The "surpluses" have always been borrowed to the last penny and replaced with governmental I.O.U.s

And of course this pathetic excuse for a "church" is equally pathetic and stupid for committing this trash to elections on the Net where anyone can point at it and laugh.

Other than that, fine article.....

* The theft of all social security funds, to be transferred to those who control money....

Social Security funds have been part of the general budget for years. I know he is referring to privatization that hasn't even been proposed yet, but that would actual transfer the funds to the individual instead of the federal government, so he has it ass-backwards.

* Rising numbers of uninsured people in this country...

Not really much of a trend, but has nothing to do with Facism.

* Increased loss of funding for public education combined with increased support for vouchers...

Funding for public education has been increasing. Besides giving people the freedom to choose schools instead of government schools is actually a step away from Fascim.

* More restrictions on civil liberties as America is turned into the police state necessary for fascism to work

Not sure what civil liberties he is even talking about.

* Withdrawal of virtually all funding for National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting System.

Government funded broadcasts would be part of fascim.

* The reinstatement of a draft,

Hasn't happened, won't happen.

* More imperialistic invasions: of Iran and others...

We are freeing countries from evil murderous dictators, that is not imperialistic.

* More restrictions on speech...

The only free speech that is under attack is religious speech, unless you include the Democratic campaign finance reform bill.

* Control of the internet...

what is he referring to? No clue.

* Efforts to remove the tax-exempt status of churches...

What is he talking about here? If anything, this is a Democratic effort.

* Tighter control of the editorial bias of almost all media...

Must be on serious drugs. This ain't happening.

* Continued outsourcing of jobs...

Overstated, and nothing to do with Fascism. * Moves in the banking industry to make it impossible for an increasing number of Americans to own their homes.

We are at record numbers of homeowners, so the drugs must be really kicking in.

* Criminalization of those who protest, as un-American, with arrests, detentions and harassment increasing.

Hasn't happened, although after reading this I think it was the only good idea he had.
