It’s Not Liberals Who Don’t ‘Get It’ – It’s Conservatives-(New Joan Swirsky BLOCKBUSTER!)
NEWSMAX.COM ^ | DECEMBER 9, 2004 | JOAN SWIRSKY

Posted on 12/09/2004 12:49:19 PM PST by CHARLITE

My conservative friends continue to tell me that the liberals (who just lost the election) “just don’t get it.”

That is, liberals “don’t get” the destructiveness of the American Civil Liberties Union’s relentless efforts to ban any allusion to Christianity and any mention of God in a country that is 96 percent Christian.

They “don’t get” that the vote recounts in Ohio and elsewhere – which are costing taxpayers millions of dollars – are not, as they claim, to insure the sanctity of the voting process, but rather a colossal example of sour grapes at its worst.

Joan Swirsky is simply one of the most persuasive BEST conservative journalists writing today. Look at her compelling list of all that the Dems. lost.

The only other big-time "loser" that I don't see on her list is Whoopi. For ME, Madame Goldberg helped immeasurably to lose the election for Monsieur Kerry, at her horrific trash-mouth performance at Radio City Music Hall in the middle of the summer phase of the campaign. Kerry helped her to help him lose by rushing up onto the stage with Tootsie, the Breck Girl and his spouse in tow, all eager to announce that the performance they had all just witnessed "represented the heart and soul of America." That did it for me. If I'd doubted before, whether President Bush would win re-election, I had no doubt after that Radio City Music Hall gaffe of major proportions.

She has it right. The left will never be convinced. There is no compromise on homosexual marriage or abortion or socialized medicine or national security and the left will NEVER change who they are.

Rino's don't get it. But if Joan would spend some time at Free Republic, she would see that most Freepers get it.

Something that Democrats would benefit from learning about is the reaction of American voters to JFKerry's "transformation" in the final weeks of the campaign.

Kerry went from church to church preaching morality and values from the pulpit and promising America that he would be consulting his Bible often while making decisions in The White House. He also put on camouflage outfits and a Midwestern rural accent (Can I git me a hunting license here?) and shot at geese and fished for dinner. In between all this he was doing photo-ops in which he handled corn-on-the-cob and flipped pancakes as if he were afraid they were laced with anthrax.

Moderate voters leaning toward Kerry were alarmed by this behavior and their only comfort was that he didn't really mean this stuff, he's just putting on an act to fool the boobs in flyover country into voting for him.

Moderate voters leaning toward Bush were just insulted.

All of this clearly illustrates the crucial idea that is missing from the Democrat party. Style only looks good when it has substance underneath it.

Come up with some substantive policies that a majority of American voters want and you may start winning elections again

But you see... they'll 're-frame' these issues so they 'sound' like values. Well... at least that's what they're hoping for.

How can you find religion when you live in insolent blasphemy?!

Well, I say that it is the conservatives who don’t “get it”! Strangely, conservatives continue to believe that with enough cogent argument and logic, with enough accommodation and compromise, liberals – the self-proclaimed intelligentsia – will “see the light.”

Nonsense. Many, if not most, conservatives were lefties at one time (myself included). Churchill's comment on the subject is quite true. Of course a single argument isn't going to make a leftie see the light, but the effect is cumulative over time. The suggestions at the end of the article are all fine, but really don't have anything to do with the dubious premise above.

Great article, but she is wrong about being able to change liberals. Many younger folks start out as liberals & as they grow up & learn about the real world...they become conservatives. It happened to me around the age of 28. Up until then, I never really paid much attention to politics....I just blindly voted Democrat or Independent.

Simultaneously, their de facto employees in the left-wing media trumpeted that “House Conservatives Deal Blow to President, Speaker in Rejecting Compromise” and that the failure of the Senate to pass the bill would, for the president, be “a humiliating defeat.” But that was before the Senate passed the bill on Dec. 8, a testimony not only to the president’s personal powers of persuasion and unarguable ability to implement the bold plans he has laid out for our country, but also to his courage in transforming a system that hasn’t been altered in 50 years!

WAKE UP AMERICA! Now is the hour to effect the lasting changes to guide our great nation in the right path.

Good idea.

I did not see a e-mail address for her, so I sent the following to Chistopher Ruddy to pass on to her.

"Please pass this on to Joan Swirsky. I did not see her name on your contact list.

Dear Joan:

In your December 9, 2004, article, you stated:

"Well, I say that it is the conservatives who don’t “get it”! Strangely, conservatives continue to believe that with enough cogent argument and logic, with enough accommodation and compromise, liberals – the self-proclaimed intelligentsia – will “see the light.” "

Have you ever visited www.freerepublic.com? If you have, I hope you were not including us in the above comment. If you have not, try us out. We are a conservative web site that - well, here is its description from the home page:

"Free Republic is the premiere online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!"

Freepers, as we are known, "get it." We realize that most liberals are a lost cause. We cannot imagine Michael Moore ever changing his stripes any more than you can."

and in related news, NewsMax had to be added to the "do not excerpt" list. ;')

The reason for the lack of comprehension by the Demagogic Party supporters is, they see what they think are facts, and twist and spin in order to make them fit their own conclusions, which not surprisingly are the same as their biases and other assumptions.

And they can't comprehend that anyone could come to any other conclusion.

They are bigots. They don't think for themselves, because they don't think, period.

They swallow whatever they're spoon-fed, then regurgitate.

So, isn't it time that conservatives "got it"? Got, that is, the immutable nature of liberals and the urgent need to take action against their continuing machinations by: ... (5) working to oust the U.N.'s corrupt Kofi Annan and -- at the same time -- supporting a new organization of democratic nations?

missus clinton's REAL virtual office update

"If you look at white women, and I think that was the key to this election, Kerry won 45% based on the exit polls--but they're generally in agreement--Kerry won 45%, Bush won 55% of white women. By contrast, Bush won only 45% of white women in 2000, so he upped is percentages by 10 points. In 1996, bill clinton won 48% of white women compared to Bob Dole's 43%. That is a huge, huge difference. I don't think you can lay all that at the doorstep of moral values. I think that this president unabashedly and abjectly took the issue of terror and used it to terrorize... white women."

"Crucial to this protective wall was the secret police, a group of private detectives hired to protect hillary and 'Saturday night bill.' There is reason to believe that he is a rapist ("You better get some ice on that," Juanita Broaddrick says he told her concerning her bit lip), and that he bombed a country to distract attention from legal difficulties arising from his glandular life, and that... GEORGE WILL

Connecticut Rep. Chris Shays said on a talk radio show Wednesday that, based on secret evidence he reviewed during the impeachment controversy, he believes President Clinton raped Juanita Broaddrick, not once, but twice.

Talk-show host Tom Scott of Clear Channel Broadcasting, New Haven (WELI 960) asked Shays about the mysterious impeachment "evidence room," prompting the GOP moderate to say that Broaddrick "disclosed that she had been raped, not once, but twice" to Judiciary Committee investigators.

Shays, who is often hailed by the New York Times for his independent judgment and good sense, found the evidence compelling:

"I believed that he had done it. I believed her that she had been raped 20 years ago. And it was vicious rapes, it was twice at the same event." Asked point blank if the president is a rapist, Shays said, "I would like not to say that it way. But the bottom line is that I believe that he did rape Broaddrick."

The rape took place while Bill was running for governor. Hillary came bursting into the room to talk to two people, one of whom I personally know.

She said "You won't believe what this [expletive] did now. He tried to rape some b*tch."

It was the job of these two to squelch the story.

"Who is Juanita Broaddrick? I've never heard of her!" cried Betty Friedan, the founder of modern feminism. Friedan's outburst came at last Friday's conference, entitled "The Legacy and Future of Hillary Rodham Clinton." Held at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. D.C., the event offered a chilling microcosm of an angry, divided America.

For nearly an hour, a five-woman panel had been debating whether Hillary qualified as a "feminist heroine." I thought Broaddrick's claim of having been raped by Hillary's husband had some bearing on this point, so I broached the subject during the question-and-answer period. Friedan's dyspeptic denial followed.

Was Friedan telling the truth? Maybe. And maybe all those millions of Germans who professed ignorance of the death camps were telling the truth too. The problem is, having admitted her ignorance, Friedan showed no interest in exploring the matter further. And that was the problem with the Germans too.

Totalitarian impulses flourished at the conference. Taking a page from Soviet psychiatry, some Clintonites suggested that Hillary hating might be a mental illness.

[Hillary Clinton] began by insisting that the entire Middle East region work to socially and politically enfranchise women. "Human rights are women's rights," she said.

Though some Middle Eastern nations have taken small steps in the right direction, Clinton said women and girls are consistently marginalized in all aspects of society.

"When we look at the political, economic and strategic position in the Middle East today, it's obvious that progress cannot be made if there is an unwillingness to include half the population of these countries," she said.

Clinton described herself as "one of the early voices speaking out against the treatment of women by the Taliban in the 1990s...."
