Which means that if there are 15 million illegals+ in total as is widely believed then the country as a whole is spending about $45 billion on illegals.

It would cost us less than that to round every one of them up and ship them out.

Martin also added an estimate of 597,000 U.S.-born children whose parents are illegal immigrants arriving at a total of 1,022,000 children. Multiplying the number of children by the estimated $7,577 the state spends on average per pupil, the study arrived at the $7.7 billion figure.

Yes but wouldn't that be a much higher average since many if not most have trouble with their English? Don't they get extra education funds for that. And what about college tuition?

Where are the Republicans???

Why should they care? The mess isn't surrounding their homes, and they're not struggling to pay their bills like most Americans are.

True. But until we secure our borders, what's the point? They'll be back next week...

Yeah, and they won't even have to sneak. They'll just drive across with their state issued drivers licenses.

Republicans don't care.

George Bush doesn't need California, except for the braindead donors who'll give to him even though he sells the Golden State out.

Republicans in Congress by and large don't care, because they either don't realize the scope of the problem being from other parts of the country, or they are bought off like cheap whores by business interests who profit from illegal alien labor.

Schwarzenegger doesn't care, he's tied to the idea of making life in California as easy as possible for "immigrants" (no matter what kind), and doesn't want to dare alienate anyone who might vote against him.

The California Legislature does care. They want the border eliminated totally.

Yep. Tell that to the bushbots. He says unlimited immigration is OK so it must be!!! / sarc

I wonder how many times the RepublicRats have to shoot the bird at us conservatives before a few start to get the message that they don't give a rat's behind about what is good for the country in many ways...or about the ones that voted for them.

"The mess isn't surrounding their homes, and they're not struggling to pay their bills like most Americans are."

You're wrong about us Republicans in California. The illegals ARE surrounding our homes and we ARE struggling to pay our bills. We hate the mess but our politicians are deaf to this issue. Our best advocates are Ken and John on KFI radio, and it's a shame they're more ethical on this issue than our elected officials. If Hillary picks up on this for '08 she might have a chance against a Republican.

Perhaps we longsuffering Californians ought to secede and solve the problem ourselves...
