OREM, Utah -- The family name "Hacking" has been removed from the gravestone of a woman whose husband has been charged with killing her and dumping her body in a trash bin.

Lori Hacking's family changed the headstone, which now reads "Lori Kay Soares."

Mark Hacking reported in July that his 27-year-old wife had failed to return from an early morning jog, setting off extensive searches by volunteers and police.

He later allegedly admitted to his brothers he shot her as she slept and disposed of her body in a trash bin.

That family is a Class Act. Sends a loud and clear message, if you ask me! Rest in Peace.

"Hacking" has been replaced on the headstone by the Portuguese word "Filhinha," which translates to "little daughter."

"We just felt that Mark obviously didn't want her anymore," said Lori's mother, Thelma Soares.

Mark Hacking's parents were notified of the change and understood, Soares said.

Amen!

I hope Laci Peterson's mother does the same thing.

This is the guy that kept a long running lie going about how he was enrolled in Med school.

Sad story. Poor girl.

No. He *did* want her, but he had to lie to get her, and he fed the lie to keep her. When the lie exploded, he couldn't bear losing her, nor could he bear her condemnation.

Poor guy and girl.

Missed it! Sorry for the double ping! But yes, I think that would be wonderful, if they removed the "Peterson" name from the gravestone for Conner and Laci.

My sister Donna was murdered by the scum she married back in 1973. Imagine the "shock" and "dismay" from his family when my father had my sister's maiden name placed on her headstone!

This is the right thing, the only thing, this woman's parents could do in order to give her some dignity in death that her filthbag "husband" could not giver her in life.

I 100% agree with this move.

Good. The bastard doesn't deserve to soil his wife's headstone with that abomination of a name.

with that abomination of a name.

While I agree with her parent's decision, you might want to ease up. It was his brothers that pressured him into a confession and then went to the police once he did.

How sad for your family. I can't imagine going through such a tragedy. Hopefully, he is away, where he can never do this again. Did you get any bad vibes from the guy? This is just so so sad. Prayers for your family and his. I also can't imagine what it would be like to be told your child has comitted any crime, let alone one involving a death.

The gutless punk committed suicide later that night.

He left a two-year daughter with no parents.

That was a very difficult period for me. My father was killed by a drunk driver three months later. Ten year old boys should not have to go through such things. It makes you grown up way too soon.

Who had the gravestone put on the grave? I would have thought it was her parents in the first place and if so I would have thought they never would have put her married name on it.

I presume since it did have her married name that the Hackings must have had it put up.

I'm not saying, "Poor guy, set him free." I'm saying, "Poor guy, he was confused enough to try to build a life with lies, and when that failed, instead of admitting that lies were wrong, he killed her, and then lied about it." That's a desperate and damamged soul.

In the early days of our republic, when a man was condemned to death, the judge would urge the man upon sentencing to trust his soul to Jesus Christ before the death penalty would be exacted in 10 days. Punishment was swift, but the perperators soul was still precious to this country.

Don't confuse a sense of compassion with a desire on my part to pervert or even deny justice.

What man wouldn't want to charm and win the affection of a beautiful girl like that with all the manly strength and wisdom he had spent a lifetime accumulating under Christ's guidance?

No man.

Mark Hacking has failed at the American dream worse than many do. He probably will also die for his lack of morality, but Christians should be praying for his soul to be won to Christ before eternal damnation hits him.

How very sad for you. My husband's father died when my husband was 12 but not from violence. It did make him grow up fast, he is a better person for it, and I am sure you are too. Hopefully you had a strong support system.
