DALLAS A homeless Dallas man thought he had something special in a plate he inherited from a great-aunt. Apparently, he was right.
The Dallas Morning News reports the Czech factory that made the plate has authenticated it as having been made exclusively for the "Titanic."
Jay Sherman has told the newspaper that his great-aunt was a Titanic survivor.
Now Sherman -- who reportedly has been sleeping under a freeway bridge near downtown Dallas -- is offering the small plate for auction. It's listed on e-Bay with an opening bid of just under 50-thousand dollars.
The giant White Star liner sank in the North Atlantic in 1912 after striking an iceberg on its maiden voyage. About 15-hundred passengers and crew died.
But, he would have to hump for property tax as well as wine or he would lose the home soon. Besides, utilities are a killer.
Say, Buddy, can you spare some change for bus fare and a portion of my electric bill?
Chill a Cella Lambrusco, white suited, mustachio'd italian....ringin' any bells.
So, the old bat swipes a plate, sticks it in her bustle and hustles off to the old lifeboat, eh?
The starting price is $49,995.00 No one has made a bid on it yet.
Over the years, Fred's love affair with Ripple inspired him to create such concoctions as Mintchipple (Mint julep + Ripple); Cripple (Cream + Ripple); Champipple (Champagne + Ripple); Beaujolipple (Beaujolais + Ripple); and Manischipple (Manischewitz + Ripple).
You just gotta love Freddie G.
Just have a swig of Night Train, clear the cobwebs.
Like M*A*S*H, his show had some of TV's best one liners.
Apparently the family tree was/is full of 2nd classers. ;)
I watch M*A*S*H every chance I get. Some of the funniest TV moments will forever be at the 4077.
Leonardo DiCaprio will bid $75,000....as soon as I log in using his name.
"promtly cashed my cheque but complained to ebay of nonpayment.UNETHICAL LIARS!"
However... look at the French-spelling of the word cheque.
I don't think it's original. According to them the plate is dated 1900-1940. If they are so sure then why did they use such period of time.
If they were real smart they would claim it was nicked when they hit the iceberg. :)
Doesn't matter. He will burn through the money in a few months and be on the streets again.
Champipple
Its so nice to see tragedy turning out to be okay in the end! Kind of like those old Disney movies where some cute critter's parents are slaughtered violently and gratuitously at the beginning, and then by the end young Timmy adopts him and feeds him peas under the table while Ma and Pa stare blankly ahead, too depressed from the meaninglessness of their dreary existence to notice that there is a bear cub being reared under their kitchen table.
