Activists smear anyone who wants better borders
By MICHELLE MALKIN

THE OBTUSENESS of the open-borders lobby never ceases to amaze. Here we are, three years after the 9/11 hijackers easily exploited lax borders, and the OBL continues to argue that cracking down on illegal immigration and tightening terrorist-friendly loopholes are “anti-immigrant.”

How do you maintain sanity when wading through the emotional drivel that passes for the OBL’s reasoning? Tip: Whenever they say “anti-immigrant,” substitute “pro-enforcement.” Political correctness is the handmaiden of terrorism. By smearing the overwhelming majority of Americans who support real borders as racists and xenophobes, the OBL obscures its deadly agenda: sabotaging our existing immigration laws and blocking any new efforts to punish those who abuse the system.

Flavia Jimenez of the National Council of La Raza illustrates perfectly this blustering open-borders tactic in a hysterical “action alert” this week titled: “Stop anti immigrant provisions from becoming part of the intelligence reform bill.” La Raza and their fellow travelers argue that tough enforcement measures “needlessly scapegoat all immigrants,” are “extraneous” and “harsh,” “would not have prevented the terrorist attacks and will not make us safer,” and are “non-solutions that will only drive people further underground and cause panic among immigrant communities.”

“Extraneous”? These same critics had no problem when a $1 billion illegal alien health care bailout for border hospitals was tacked on to the mammoth Medicare prescription drug bill.

“Non-solutions”? The 9/11 commission itself blamed “a lack of well-developed counterterrorism measures as part of border security, and an immigration system not able to deliver on its basic commitments, much less support counterterrorism.”

“Anti-immigrant”? If you actually read the immigration enforcement provisions supported by House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner and his fellow maverick House Republicans you will see clearly and unequivocally that these vital measures are anti-terrorist. Anti-criminal. Anti-fraud. And above all, pro-enforcement.

Open-border activists not only oppose the most-publicized provision that would deny drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens, they also oppose provisions:

·  Adding at least 2,000 new border patrol agents, 800 new interior enforcement investigators, and 150 additional consular officials overseas.

·  Increasing illegal alien detention facility space by 2,500 beds.

·  Expanding the number of foreign airports with counterterrorist passenger prescreening programs.

·  Creating a uniform identity document rule for all aliens present in the United States.

·  Toughening criminal penalties for using or trading false identification documents.

·  Reducing bureaucratic delays that allow illegal aliens who obtained fraudulent visas to re-enter or remain in the country even after their visas have been revoked.

·  Creating an information- and intelligence-sharing system at the Department of Homeland Security to track terrorist travel tactics, patterns, trends and practices and disseminate the data to front-line personnel at ports of entry and immigration benefits offices.

·  Making it easier to deport terrorists and alien supporters of terrorism by curbing their avenues for appeal and delay.

·  Speeding up the development of a long-delayed entry-exit system to guard against terrorists slipping through the cracks.

·  Requiring asylum-seekers tied to guerrilla, militant or terrorist organizations, and who claim asylum without submitting corroborating evidence, to provide credible proof of their “persecution.”

As usual, mainstream reporting on these specific immigration-related measures at issue has been skimpy. That’s because so many national editors themselves subscribe to the open-borders gospel. Since

9/11, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Washington Post have published countless news items and editorials decrying immigration enforcement: sob stories about families caught evading deportation orders; foreign students complaining about new registration requirements violating their “privacy”; Latino activists outraged about border patrol agents doing their jobs; Middle Eastern tourists protesting visa screening measures; and illegal aliens clamoring for protection of their “rights.”

Rep. Sensenbrenner and his GOP colleagues face not only the OBL on the left and in the media, but also at the highest echelons of the Bush administration. The mavericks need all the help they can get. Before it’s too late, call the White House now and yell: It’s the enforcement, stupid!

Also, just out this article from NewsMax

Send FedEx Letters to Congress NOW!

You've probably heard that the 9/11 reform bill is being held up in Congress. Thanks to a determined group of conservative House members, the bill was stopped before it could be voted on, and a new "lame-duck" session of Congress is due to try again this coming week to get it passed.

But why did these conservative Congressmen stop the bill? According to Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, it's pretty simple: "The 9/11 reform bill is currently snagged by the Senate's refusal to address three critical issues: Should states continue to issue driver's licenses to illegal aliens? Should we tighten our asylum system that terrorists exploited to such deadly effect? Have we ensured the military chain of command is not broken in our intelligence restructuring?"

This isn't a small matter. The military chain of command is a life-or-death issue for our war fighters in Iraq and Afghanistan. Getting this issue wrong, just so we can say we passed a 9/11 bill, could have DEADLY consequences. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), the House Armed Services Committee Chairman, and many military leaders have articulated a lot of the same concerns that Sensenbrenner shares about the current bill in this area.

Intelligence-reform efforts will be wasted if Congress fails to address other security loopholes that the 9/11 hijackers studied to hatch their deadly plans. Once the 19 hijackers arrived here, they were able to secure 63 validly issued driver's licenses. Using these licenses, they were able to blend in and eventually board U.S. planes. Learning from this, the 9/11 Commission Report -- which this legislation is based upon -- recommends that the federal government "set standards for the issuance of birth certificates and other sources of identification, such as driver's licenses. Fraud in identification documents is no longer just a problem of theft." The House sought to implement this recommendation with tough security standards for driver's licenses. The Senate, so far, has largely rejected this approach.

What's so controversial about setting strong standards to stop another terrorist like Hani Hanjour from receiving a driver's license?

The House Republicans also sought to address asylum abuse, especially loopholes that terrorists use. The mastermind of the first World Trade Center attack, and an Egyptian immigrant who killed two people at the Los Angeles airport in 2002, both exploited our asylum system to remain in the U.S. Yet the Senate wants to "study" asylum abuse, and not take action!

Passing the current bill, which FAILS to comprehensively address the problems exposed by 9/11, will simply not do enough to prevent another 9/11. Congress CAN get a good bill -- one that addresses intelligence reform, terrorist asylum abuse and security for driver's licenses -- ONLY when the Senate decides it's willing to tackle these vital issues.

The fact is this -- the Senate is refusing to consider vital border security and immigration provisions in the 9/11 overhaul. The current bill is incomplete and needs work -- work that House Democrats and the Senate are refusing to do. Rep. Sensenbrenner is fighting for better security standards for drivers licenses, and he doesn't believe our national security is improved by issuing drivers licenses to illegal aliens.

That makes sense. Page 390 of the 9/11 Commission report states, "The federal government should set standards for the issuance of birth certificates and sources of identification, such as drivers licenses. Fraud in identification documents is no longer just a problem of theft."

Sensenbrenner and many dedicated House Republicans are working for a comprehensive approach to preventing another 9/11, instead of a limp, scaled-back bill that focuses only on restructuring the intelligence bureaucracy. What good is better intelligence if we don't control our borders and issue drivers licenses to people whose real identity is suspect? Border security and immigration are an integral part of homeland security -- the Senate needs to address these issues NOW.

We must NOT let the GOP leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives push through a poor bill, just because we "need something now". We need something GOOD. We need to make our voices heard LOUD and CLEAR immediately, before these leaders make a serious mistake and ramrod this bad bill through.
As usual, you can also send a message at no charge to your own Congressman and Senators, telling them to vote for REAL 9/11 reform:

CNN is reporting that Sen. John Warner is not thrilled with this intelligence bill as the Senate wants it. Lou Dobbs is worth watching. We need to work on Warner.

Rep. Sensenbrenner and his GOP colleagues face not only the OBL on the left and in the media, but also at the highest echelons of the Bush administration.

Quite disturbing...

And by the "highest echelons," Michelle DOES mean: GEORGE W. BUSH himself.

Let no one here at FR kid themselves -- she's right.

I agree with everything you said, he needs to listen to the real Americans and not the racist latinos. Illegal aliens cause everyone problems. Yet he thinks pandering will win him our vote. I don't think so, I am an American and want to be treated as an American. I as an "hispanic" will do whatever it takes to make America, America and not mexico.

Okay - change the hair in that cartoon to red, add a pair of wood crutches (I thought the metal hollow set would give them grief - little did I know) and that WAS ME on Nov. 13th, returning from Florida.

The wanding, 3 times, and the hands on my body, 3 times, was ridiculous.

The TSA witch doing the checking seemed to have Alzheimers and couldn't remember that she had ALREADY CHECKED ME, THREE TIMES.

At that point, since my flight was now boarding, I looked at the two guys who were watching and told them, "I need a Supervisor". Not surprisingly, the one with the biggest smirk stepped forward and I politely suggested that they let me proceed to my gate. That in case he hadn't noticed, she had wanded my body, 3 times, and used her dang hands ON my body, 3 times, and was about to go for a fourth. Why?
I knew better than to ask, "Was this a purposeful delaying tactic or what?", but I sure felt that something like that was going on.

He motioned for me to go - which did not seem to please the idiot who had been having such a field day, checking me out.

I wisely, didn't look at her as I put on my shoes, took my crutches and proceded to my gate.

But I wrote an angry letter to the TSA when I got home, and sent them the same information via email. It still infuriates me when I think of her delaying actions. I am a very white-skinned, red-haired lady on crutches, for Pete's sake. What part of NOT looking like an Arab male, aged 19-36 do they NOT GET?

I sure hope that Bernie Kerik does a better job of instruciong TSA agents than his stupid predecessors, at DHS and TSA. Thank goodness both Ridge and what's-his-face are gone. Good riddance.

I LOVE to dance Aunt B, but I REFUSE TO TO IT to this tune of day! Shit for howdy, as they say.

I might be at a loss as to how many folks on this list deal with the issue in real time. I would say if it hasn't visited you as such, it will shortly. DEAL with it!

Don't come talking to CITIZENS about how your late-dog elevated status REQUIRED you to hire WAIT STAFF. Not directed to you AB. Spouting ... late-ish. Bye,
