The truth does not reside with me, it is solely in the purview of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. His truth is the truth and He has seen fit to reveal His thoughts on the subject through His only begotten Son, the living Word, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Based on your comments here, no right thinking parent would want you to pollute the minds of their children with your pottage philosophy. The children under your care are best served with your focus trained entirely on the task of chauffeur.

No, that would not have been deemed offensive in the least because Katie Couric has placed her seal of approval on said research. The NEA bases its daily talking points on whatever glop du jour Mz. Couric is spewing Today.

"My priority is children, not fairness."

Then you should be at the ramparts of the struggle against the leftist secularist PC garbage that has infiltrated the public school system! Reserve your indignation for that behemoth of corruption and leave the poor driver alone!

"...Abortion was a good thing or that the War in Iraq is not good?"

Why even consider the possibility of a bus driver saying this stuff when the kids get it EVERY DAY in schools around the nation. Trust me...the leftists have gone way beyond getting at the children while driving a bus. They control most of the nation's media and education systems and many of its institutions. What's left for conservatives is home schooling, some private schools, and a very few popular culture outlets.

You should be grateful that this driver had the gumption to bring up this sacred cow of the leftist establishment.

Pray tell what damage has been done to those children?

At the very least, they have seen conflict between their parents and school authorities. Both sets of people are supposed to be absolutely trustworthy. Continued conflict would put the child in the position of needing to decide who is truthful and trustworthy.

Some children may have actually gone home and argued with their parents over what the parents believe.

"It is everyone's job to be human. And it is dehumanizing for educators who would indoctrinate children to terrorize bus drivers who would educate them."

Bravo!

There are no statisitics for how often people get fired for such things. But when they do it's always a conservative. Sorry. There is no way she could possibly have known with any certainty. My orginal comment still stands.

I never said she could be certain of being fired. I stated that she was trying to bring attention to her beliefs. She COULD ABSOLUTELY be certain that she was going to make someone mad enough to make an issue of it.

Whether or not a certain branch of medical research holds promise or not should not be a divisive issue.

Your opinion of the issue is irrelevant. It IS a divisive issue, according to the parents of those children. That is why there was a complaint (or many. I'm not clear on that).

People who work for the taxpayers are accountable to the taxpayers. People who work for schools are accountable to those children's parents. You and I don't have to agree with the parents. But it seems reasonable to refrain from discussing subjects about which there is much disagreement. Teachers and bus drivers work for the parents.

Do you not read posts to you? I have stated, quite clearly, that BECAUSE of all the nonsense I have read about schools over the years, I am in the process of becoming a public school teacher. I will be right there on the front lines.

I already battle teachers! And I do it when they are liberal OR conservative.

We send our four children to private school and do not permit the to have access to TV unless the program is appropriate and they are supervised. Instead, our kids spend a great deal of time reading.

Trust me, keeping the kids away from the TV is the easiest thing about raising kids.

My wife and I would prefer that the bus driver, mailman, teacher, soccer coach and milkman refrain from expressing their views to our children. Perhaps the Nanny State Advocates should adopt Conservative Principles and let people raise their own children.

You battle liberal teachers? How? By voting down school budgets?

You battle conservative teachers?

How? There are harldy any. And why would you if there were?

And be sure to only use the water fountain labeled "bus drivers".

Oh please! Are you really saying that it is completely ok with you if I say ANYTHING I want to your children?

But it wasn't a view. It was a fact that those who are promoting a view want to suppress. It would have to be drive the bus and don't say anything that might offend anybody...so don't talk.

I'm sure there is NOTHING at all that one can discuss with students that isn't offensive! My goodness, we are SO constrained and discriminated against because we can't talk about stem cell research to children! It's the Crusades all over again!

It depends upon where you live. If you're in a "red" area, many of the teachers are conservative.

Bravo and best of luck. Your kids will surely need it...and I say this with all due respect.

In your zeal to limit the exposure your children get to the world, you avoid the uncomfortable reality that the milkman, the driver, and all the rest of us can and do express our opinions.

In order to confront those opinions with which we disagree, we need to make sure that we are equipped with the tools of the trade so to speak: practice with dealing with the world.

By being in actual classrooms and contradicting what they say! By expressing my views to my college professors and my fellow, (almost teacher) students. I tell other parents about my experiences in the classroom so that they can be prepared.

Actually, I'm doing quite a hell of a lot to solve the problem that you claim to be so concerned about. What do you do?

The teachers may be personally conservative to some extent or other but the books they use and the unions (NEA mainly) they are members of are certainly not!

Remember: most teacher training programs are liberal to the core: God is Dewey. There may be a few crypto conservative teachers out there but not many...not even in the red states.

You make no sense whatsoever! You get terribly upset when liberals spout off in class, then deride someone else for wanting to limit the opinions that his child hears AND imply that he is a bad parent for wanting to do so!

My children don't need your opinion. My children don't need to hear liberals spouting off their opinions either. As a parent, I am MORE than capable of teaching my children these subjects myself.
