I believe homosexuality/lesbianism used to be designated as a mental disorder in the psyche books, but somewhere along the way it was changed to disease or some other such excuse. Amazing!

Thank you God for not allowing me to get entangled with Scientology either!!
Maybe it would be a good idea to read up about homosexuality and AIDS, tons of links on this thread alone.
And I don't think your figures about numbers of partners are correct. Not everyone is promiscuous, although the media/entertainment industry would have us think so.
Over the weekend I read a children's book by Truman Capote in which he discusses being bullied as a child for being a "sissy". His only support was an old maiden aunt and the male in the house was around only for meals and sleep. I wonder if the bullying contributed to solidifying his homosexual identity--or was an early consequence of being different.
Well, I'm a lesbian trappd in a man's body...
That study was was posted on FR. I dont remember specific, other than above and that most gays had DOZENS of encounters which spread disease. MAny had HUNDREDS of partners.
I think the average among hetero's is 6/7 people. As Ann Coulter points out, having women in the mix slows down the promiscuity.
While more bi-sexual behavior means that AIDS is now leaching into the hetero population, you can see for your self that the vast majority of aids cases have come from gay sex and/or needle use ( like in the ~80% range)
Some freeper did post this CDC data.
No, I wasn't homeschooled and certainly didn't 'miss this phenomenon'. I was simply replying to your 'wish' for 'some information available beyond the first two paragraphs.'
I didn't realize that the links you posted were to information covered in the article that was excerpted. That certainly didn't seem to be the case.
Well, yeah. They do. Sounds weird, I know, but I can't get them to stop doing it. I try, though.
Yes, so don't mention it again, thanks.
It must be bullying. After all, it couldn't be that the desire to stick your thing into someone elses anus is a sign of mental disorder in itself could it?
Shalom.
The guys who killed Matthew Shepard were simply robbing him to get money for more methamphetamine. He was well dressed and too drunk to drive home from the bar. The robbery went horribly wrong. They returned to the bar later that night and robbed straight white men for some more money. Being gay had absolutely NOTHING to do with the death of Matthew Shepard.
The gay community is mad as hell about the two druggies exposing the nature of their crime as a simple robbery. Losing the "hate crime" angle really screws with the gay agenda.
well, thanks for the opportunity to "educate myself". I guess I could pass that on to our President, whose view I share when he says he doesn't know what causes people to be gay. My original statement was that I am sure that every gay person wasn't made that way as the result of physical or sexual abuse. I guess that's too extreme of a position for you.
Oh brother...
Anyone who works in any field relating to behavioral science - and also has an ounce of common sense and honesty - will tell you that their observations lead them to conclude that emotional/mental instability leads others to dislike the disturbed person, not the other way around. How many neighbors of serial killers have been interviewed over the years who said things like "He seemed nice. He was always very polite, but there was something about him that made me uncomfortable"?
People not liking and therefore picking on the disturbed person exacerbate the instability, but there picking doesn't cause it.
This article, on the other hand, is nothing but pop pseudoscience for the consumption of the ignorant masses. Keeps a whole slew of therapists and social worker types in luxury minivans and other goodies. Over half the mental health community are nothing but snake oil salesmen.
Actually, the entire question sent the APA into a tizzy of trying to define just what a mental illness was in the first place and whether or not there is any such thing - which goes to show how totally worthless the APA is.
One sign of a mental illness is an inability to accept reality. If I were to declare myself Napoleon, and to insist that France accept me as their Emperor, that wold be a sign of mental illness since I am not the Emperor of France. (It would also be a sign of mental illness because who would want to be? But I digress.)
Everyone is born in a heterosexual body. That's reality. The claim to be homosexual is an inability to accept reality. That's a mental illness. Fortunately it can be treated. Just as I no longer demand that France enthrone me, former homosexuals live happy heterosexual lives.
Of course, I won't deny that I miss the lavish parties they used to throw for me at the palace, but really, I'm doing quite well now, thank you.
Shalom.
As soon as two sperm cells unite to form an embryo, I will believe someone was born gay. (note the absence of any sarcasm tags!)
Is this another modern day phenomena or have the years (I'm 68) erased my memory of prevalent bullying? I just simply don't remember it as much of a problem, if any.
