Pres. Bush national vote total @ 61.712 million votes! (11.25 million more than in 2000 election!)

Pres. Bush has added another 1/2 million votes since 11/18/04 which was the last time I updated the total. Bush's vote total of 61,711,686 is 11,255,684 more votes than he received in 2000! That's a 22.3% increase in just four years. Pres. Bush has also shattered the previous popular vote record held by Pres. Reagan.

Mono County is all about skiing. It is home to the Mammoth Mountain ski resort, and the June Lake ski area. Mammoth is where most of the population resides. It is going more upscale, which may have something to do with the swing.

According to the national exit polls, the partisan breakdown was 37% Republican 37% Democrat and 26% independent/3rd party. This is a net 4% improvement for Republicans since the 2000 election when the partisan spread was 39% Dem 35% Republican. Interestingly, according to the Gallup polling firm, the avg. bump for the party of an incumbent president running for re-election is 4%, which is exactly what occurred in the 2004 election.

I'm not sure about NY, but the vote count in CA is winding down. There are less than 100,000 absentee/provisional ballots left to be counted in CA. There's a larger amount in Ohio where they have yet to report the count of 155,000 provisional ballots cast on election day. As far as NY, they haven't released updated #'s since 11/14. However, there is not nearly as large an amount of absentee voters in NY as they are in CA. I would not expect the NY #'s to change much.

Only 12 more counties and less than 40,000 provisional ballots to count in Ohio -- at this point, Kerry has gained less than 6,000 NET votes (and this number includes Cuyahoga County . . . of the big four counties, only Franklin County is still counting their provisional ballots).

Relative to the remaining 100,000 provisionals in CA -- are these ballots coming from primarily Democrat or Republican counties?

I always wondered why Yolo County was so out-of-step with the surrounding counties. I forgot about UC Davis. That explains everything.

Talking about Bush getting creamed, the wipe-out in the Bay Area counties is truly astounding. I live in Alameda County which contains some moderate-to-conservative towns like Piedmont, Pleasonton, Livermore, and even Fremont. Yet Pres. Bush lost Alameda County by a devastating 292,000 votes. The final vote count is Kerry 423,000 (75.4%), Pres. Bush 131,000 (23.4%!). Pres. Bush lost S.F. County by 242,000 votes (Bush got 15.3%!!); San Mateo Co. by 115,000 votes (Bush 29.4%); Santa Clara Co. by 177,000 votes (Bush 34.7%); Sonoma Co. by 80,000 votes (Bush 31.0%); Contra Costa Co. by 107,000 (Bush 36.5%); Marin Co. by 65,000 votes (Bush 25.5%!) and Santa Cruz Co. by 59,000 votes (Bush 24.9%!). Altogether, Pres. Bush lost these eight No. Cal. coastal counties by 1,137,000 votes which is almost equal to Kerry's CA vote margin. Pres. Bush lost L.A. County by a staggering 832,000 votes which adds to a 2 million vote deficit in just nine counties. Considering that Pres. Bush won the national vote by 3% but did so poorly in CA (losing the state by 10%), it will be a very long time before a Republican presidential candidate wins the Golden State.

Thanks for the update. Are you saying no one else has tallied the latest results but you? I would bet that this is the case, if so, this really is breaking news, Drudge should put up the latest results and maybe the old stream media would update their election results.

Your kerry numbers don't add up to the total you provided (100,000 vote difference) . I dropped them into a spreadsheet and get 58,378,074 for a total vs. your total 58,478,074. Is your total of 58,378,074 incorrect or is one of the states off by exactly 100,000? Thanks!

Actually, the vote totals that I have posted above for CA include almost all the remaining outstanding ballots. That's because I have gone to the individual CA county websites to obtain vote counts that are not reflected on the CA Sec. of State website. The CA SOS website currently shows Kerry 6,659,340, Bush 5,446,607. I have Kerry @ 6,738,788 and Bush @ 5,502,805. The difference is 135,646 which accounts for almost the entire amount of outstanding ballots that the CA SOS shows remaining.

These CA vote #'s are slightly higher than the CA vote count posted in Comment #1 because additional votes were added this evening from various CA counties.

I just checked my spreadsheet, and the formula is correct. It simply adds the Kerry vote count from each state. The formula is the same for the Bush and Kerry columns. I checked to make sure the cell #'s are correct. Are you sure you didn't make a mistake when you "dropped them into a spreadsheet"?

There are other freerepublic members who are keeping track, but the national media has dropped the ball. The Associated Press is more than one million votes below Pres. Bush's actual national vote total. Most of the major media websites also have very old vote counts. I obtained my vote #'s directly from the various state websites so I'm sure they are accurate. There are a few states like WI and IL which haven't posted vote counts so I've used the #'s provided by AP.

I was raised in Santa Clara County. I remember when portions of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties had Republicans in the legislature and in congress. Now it seems the entire Bay Area has been over taken with some form of political crotch rot.
