Washington, DC – The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., today welcomed President Bush’s nomination of White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales to succeed John Ashcroft as Attorney General. If confirmed, Gonzales would be the first Hispanic ever to serve as Attorney General.
“We are very encouraged by the Gonzales nomination. We previously criticized the Bush Administration for not having an Hispanic in the cabinet since the departure of former HUD Secretary, now Senator-elect, Mel Martinez. We are pleased that one of the first acts since the President’s reelection both rectifies that situation and marks an historic milestone for the Latino community. Never before has an Hispanic served as head of one of the four major cabinet posts – Secretary of State, Treasury, Defense, and Attorney General,” stated Janet Murguia, NCLR Executive Director and COO.
Murguia also noted Gonzales’ ties to the Hispanic community throughout his career. “Alberto Gonzales served with distinction on the board of directors of one of NCLR’s oldest and most respected affiliates, the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA) in Houston, Texas. Moreover, during his tenure as White House Counsel, he has been one of the most accessible members of the White House staff to NCLR and other Hispanic organizations,” added Murguia.
Murguia concluded, “We acknowledge that this is the first step of a long confirmation process that requires that his record be fully examined. That being said, Gonzales is a thoughtful, reasonable public servant, a man of his word, and we have every expectation that his nomination will be very well received in the Latino community.”

The difference between the lowest common denominator and the, ahem, highest denominator in this case is about the width of a human hair. One calls itself "The Race" but makes little attempt at distancing itself from other more radical Hispanic groups. The other radical groups like MECha make no bones about their plans of a new country to be carved out of America called Aztlan and you laugh it off as some silly college lark, not to be taken seriously. Then there is another radical outfit that has the same objectives as MECha but in your view is somehow the only radical one.
Apparently NCLR agrees with you because they don't seem to mind what MECha stands for either. All this and you pretend to believe that there is some huge difference in the philosophies of these seditious groups and that it is wrong to lump them all together. The contortions you go through to spin a fallacy is simply amazing.
She would not give me the information to report the incident because are prominent republican party donors. She didn't want to lose her other job. I'm not entirely convinced anything would have been done anyway. The issue goes unattended to by everyone here.

I believe in complete immigration amnesty for all of the beautiful women in the world from anyhwere regardless of race who wish to migrate here.
I think that is quite fair and they can be helpful to our gene pool. I'm not asking for handmaidens ...simply great looking gals who want to be non-hyphenated Americans and contribute to a better (looking) America.

Bush has fostered a "robust" discussion on this issue, as you can see by just reading FR threads ... he just hasn't got it right yet vis a vis the noisome details. I love detail, but then I am a lawyer.
And Bush is going to foster a "robust" discussion on medicial policy, social security and tax policy, to mention three minor little issues as well, in his coming term. And while I might disagree with him on all three (I suspect I will, but then I am a RINO), God how I love the man. He wants to do something, and be bold, and the discussion will do this polity good.
Attempting to rewrite history Luis? Our southern border was at its strongest when we had little to do with Mexico and all its problems...like for about 200 years. Ever since we went down the road of Amnesties and NAFTA our southern border has been continuously weakened to the point where it is today--practically non-existent and Wide Open to an invasion. Do you want it even more wide open?
