Fallujah Marine a hero, not a coward: Kinsolving defends American, shines light on Muslim terrorists

Fallujah Marine a hero,
not a coward

From Baghdad, the Associated Press reported the following on Nov. 16:

"The U.S. military said Tuesday it is investigating the videotaped fatal shooting of a wounded man by a U.S. Marine in a mosque in Fallujah. Iraqis condemned the act as 'cowardice' and 'something forbidden in Islam.'"

"Forbidden in Islam"?

Were those masked terrorist kidnappers who, that day, murdered aid worker Margaret Hassan, non-Muslim?

And what about those who have been beheading other kidnapped hostages?

Were they, too, all non-Muslims?

And what they did to helpless hostages: Why is that not cowardice?

The AP wrote:

"Charles Heyman, a senior defense analyst with Jane's Consultancy Group in Britain, defended the Marine's actions, saying the wounded man could have been concealing a firearm or grenade.

"'In a combat infantry soldier's training, he is always taught that his enemy is at his most dangerous when he is severely wounded.

"'If the injured man makes even the slightest move, in my estimation they would be justified in shooting him.'"

In Manhattan, a New York Post editorial included the following very salient point:

"Get set for another round of America-bashing – this time over charges that a U.S. Marine shot to death an apparently disarmed, wounded terrorist inside a mosque in Fallujah.

"Emphasis on apparently, please.

"Meanwhile, as the anti-American rhetoric has begun to fill the airwaves, the cold-blooded execution of a kidnapped female humanitarian aid worker by Iraqi terrorists is met with the usual, ho-hum, 'ain't it just terrible' pabulum.

"So let's have some perspective.

"All that can fairly be assumed about the terrorist who was shot in Fallujah is that he was a member of a movement dedicated to twisting Western rules of warfare and humane conduct into lethal weapons to be used against Americans.

"And that he was effectively allied with the killers of Margaret Hassan, the Iraq-based British director of CARE – and the presumed victim in a videotape that shows a woman being executed by a pistol shot to the head.

"The West has learned the hard way what happens when terrorists are not dealt with in ways that make it impossible for them to terrorize again.

"They will terrorize again.

"They will wage jihad until their absolute last breath.

"And if it turns out that the dead terrorist was not, in fact, a threat to the Marine who shot him – well, the same can't be said of every apparently dead or wounded enemy fighter.

"And the Marine who fired the fatal shot was himself hit by gunfire just a day before. (That he was returned to the firing line so quickly speaks to his grit and courage – and should earn him the gratitude and respect of all those he acted to protect.)

"The left-wing and anti-U.S. media have provided America's critics (and the terrorists) with wonderfully extensive coverage of the Abu Ghraib abuses.

"And, sure enough, yesterday Al-Jazeera TV was happily airing the footage of the Marine's action in Fallujah.

"At the same time, the network self-righteously declared it would not air the slaughter of Margaret Hassan – no doubt, to avoid generating bad publicity for the terrorists."

In Michigan, veteran Army paratrooper and retired-to-the-Internet Episcopal priest Richard Kim writes:

"The Iraqi terrorists have ROUTINELY booby-trapped dead bodies with explosives, have REGULARLY pretended to be dead only to open fire, have REPEATEDLY waved white flags only to launch RPG's, and have RESOLUTELY hidden behind women and children and sick people in hospitals to shield their fire against us. And the fact that some Islamo-fascists are upset that one of our Marines fired a shot in a mosque is beyond contempt. Our guys did a brilliant job in Fallujah – as they are doing in Mosul and everywhere else – and our news media should be trumpeting our successes. Oh, yeah, I forgot. Most of the mainstream media wanted Kerry to be elected – even to the point of spreading falsehoods and inaccuracies. And now they are already campaigning for Hillary in '08."

On OpinionJournal.com:

"Some 40 Marines have just lost their lives cleaning out one of the world's worst terror dens, in Fallujah, yet all the world wants to talk about is the NBC videotape of a Marine shooting a prostrate Iraqi inside a mosque. Have we lost all sense of moral proportion?

"The al-Zarqawi TV network, also known as Al-Jazeera, has broadcast the tape to the Arab world, and U.S. media have also played it up. The point seems to be to conjure up images again of Abu Ghraib, further maligning the American purpose in Iraq. Never mind that the pictures don't come close to telling us about the context of the incident, much less what was on the mind of the soldier after days of combat.

"Put yourself in that Marine's boots. He and his mates have had to endure some of the toughest infantry duty imaginable, house-to-house urban fighting against an enemy that neither wears a uniform nor obeys any normal rules of war. Here is how that enemy fights, according to an account in the Times of London:

"'In the south of Fallujah yesterday, U.S. Marines found the armless, legless body of a blonde woman, her throat slashed and her entrails cut out. Benjamin Finnell, a hospital apprentice with the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, said that she had been dead for a while, but at that location for only a day or two. The woman was wearing a blue dress; her face had been disfigured. It was unclear if the remains were the body of the Irish-born aid worker Margaret Hassan, 59, or of Teresa Borcz, 54, a Pole abducted two weeks ago. Both were married to Iraqis and held Iraqi citizenship; both were kidnapped in Baghdad last month.'

"When not disemboweling Iraqi women, these killers hide in mosques and hospitals, booby-trap dead bodies and open fire as they pretend to surrender. Their snipers kill U.S. soldiers out of nowhere. According to one account, the Marine in the videotape had seen a member of his unit killed by another insurgent pretending to be dead. Who from the safety of his Manhattan sofa has standing to judge what that Marine did in that mosque?

"Beyond the one incident, think of what the Marine and Army units just accomplished in Fallujah. In a single week, they killed as many as 1,200 of the enemy and captured 1,000 more. They did this despite forfeiting the element of surprise, so civilians could escape, and while taking precautions to protect Iraqis that no doubt made their own mission more difficult and hazardous. And they did all of this not for personal advantage, and certainly not to get rich, but only out of a sense of duty to their comrades, their mission and their country.

"In a more grateful age, this would be hailed as one of the great battles in Marine history – with Guadalcanal, Peleliu, Hue City and the Chosin Reservoir. We'd know the names of these military units and of many of the soldiers too. Instead, the name we know belongs to the NBC correspondent, Kevin Sites.

"We suppose he was only doing his job, too. But that doesn't mean the rest of us have to indulge in the moral abdication that would equate deliberate televised beheadings of civilians with a Marine shooting a terrorist, who may or may not have been armed, amid the ferocity of battle."

In Scotland, The Scotsman's correspondent Russell Jackson reported:

"The wounded man was half sitting against the wall wearing an orange headscarf. Military officials said a rebel tactic was to draw U.S. soldiers in by pretending to be dead – and then opening fire."

Reuters quoted by name and rank three of this Marine's fellow leathernecks, all of whom supported him and justified his action.

I guess maybe we should start equipping our boys with sikh knives and piano wire so that they can dispatch the enemy in a more "Islamic" fashion.

I just love Les Kinsolving.
Too bad he's not on the radio everywhere.
Baltimore is fortunate to have him.

Take no prisoners; leave no wounded; exterminate the vermin. Stick a pork sausage in their mouth; leave them where the dogs can eat them.

A billion is just about 900 million too many.

The only thing that young Marine did wrong is shooting that f**cker in the head instead of tossing a grenade into the room and being done with it.

Once 98 out of 100 Imams in the world bend their knees and say that Jews, Christians, Zorastrians, Buddhists, Atheists, and Agnostics all have an equal claim to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happines I might cut them some slack.

Until then, I say we need to rain fire and death upon them wherever we find them.

So, bring it on 'Religion of Peace' boy. When your 'people' stop blowing up Jewish children in shopping malls, crashing hijacked airliners into office buildings, assassating diplomats and Olympic atheletes, and shooting handicapped American tourists in the back and shoving their bodies into the Mediteranean Sea, I might just start taking your posts seriously.

Until then, well let me see how I can put this politely: You and yours can kiss my rosy white nominally Christian *ss.

From what I've seen and learned about 'Islam'; (and that would include the valued member of this forum that the followers of your 'religion' murdered in cold blood!) this Earth doesn't need anymore of you.

In fact, we'd be a whole lot better off if the world population of 'muslims' were to be reduced by about 75% or so. It's not that I 'hate' you or anything. It's just that I realize that most of 'you' hate most of the people who think like folks like me.

Every time I turn on CNN, I see lots and lots of 'peace loving Muslims' chanting "Death To America" while burning the flag of my country.

You know what I say to that? You want Death? I say we give it to you and yours in Spades.

I've been a member of this forum since 1997. I'm going to risk getting kicked off permanently with this most personal reply to you and you only.

Here it is:

F*** you and the horse you rode in on. Take your sorry Mohamed loving, Jew hating, Christian hating, innocent men, women, and children murdering ass out of here.

Your stinking 'religion' killed a friend of mine, and tried to murder my brother. May Jesus Christ himself forgive me but I hate you. I hate every single thing you stand for. I hate your truck bombs. I hate your suicide bombs. I hate your IEDs. I hate you for every single American soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine who dies fighting whatever verminous piece of crap that passes for a human being you put up against us.

If it were up to me, I'd drop a 3 megaton nuclear weapon on that stinking piece of rock you dance around during the those days on the calendar unfortunate enough to be designated as 'muslim holy days'. With any luck, 2 o r3 million of the adherents of that death cult you call a religion would be reduced to radioactive dust along with that piece of rock you call 'holy'.

I hereby apologize to this Forum for whatever I may have done to break Mr. Robinsons rules. I'll gladly take whatever 'banning' he or his designated moderators decide that I deserves. But what I won't do, is apologize to you az19, or any other 'devout muslim' who tries to tell me that Islam or Mohamet (Piss be upon his head) is some kind of harbringer of peace.

It's not. It's a psychotic death cult, and Mohamet was a child molesting murderer. If you want my name and address so you can 'avenge' your the leader of your insane cult, just send me a FreepMail. I'll be glad to give it to you.

I'll be equally glad to send you to your 'prophet' in a plastic bag.

Nothing but love for ya....

Regards,

L

Sadly enough, it is becoming apparent that the only good Islamofascist is a dead Islamofascist. They all need to be killed.

I am as peacable a man as they come, I'd rather run from a fight if there's any choice- but there's also a time to draw a line, and say "No More!"

That time is now.

Great post, it is a cult. Even those not born and raised in Islam demonstrate this fact. Witness the soldier who rolled a grenade into his fellow soldiers' tent at the beginning of the war, converted muslim, John Walker Lindh-converted muslim, and no one can convince me that the beltway sniper (another convert) didn't have jihad on his mind when he was on his shooting spree with his lamebrain accomplice. If it only takes a taste of islam to cause this, the true believers are even more dangerous.
