Tim O'Rourke, the Kauai High School teacher attacked by a machete-wielding student, suffered only minor injuries to his hand in the Monday after-school attack, he said yesterday. His truck, however, suffered some serious damage.
"I feel all right," O'Rourke said in a phone interview. "He attacked, but I did what I had to do."

This is why we now need machete-control legislation, preferably machete registration and safety courses for machete owners.

There was a similiar attack by a student to 7 other students on the 24th of Nov.
It happened at Valporasio HS in Valporasio In.
No motive as of yet why this happened.

I love my machete. You better not try to take my machete from me.

If only there had a game warden there!

Michael Moore will have to go into a lawn and garden department in an attempt to humiliate an hourly worker about any sales or buy-one-get-one free deals on machetes.

Machete manufacturers are working on an electronic blade lock incorporating biosensors. The machete won't cut unless the properly authorized owner is holding it.

Yes! And it really is the best thing when you're hacking and slashing your way through a vine-ridden forest. No, I don't live in the tropics. I live in a residential area. But part of our yard has been neglected and if I had to have only one tool, the machete wins, hands down!

you are correct a game warden would have solved this issue in a flash. Perhaps we can get the Wisconsin DNR to send some to Hawaii. :)

This kid has some serious problems if he is this uptight in Kauai. I was just there a couple of weeks ago, and it is about the most narcoleptically bucolic place in the world!

I'm cerain it was the teacher's fault, he probably distressed the poor student's psyche by marking his spelling errors in red pen... /sarcasm

Not to mention a thirty day cooling off period before you can buy a machete.

Actually one school has a policy statement about this; they are going with lavender and blues now. NO, sadly I'm not kidding.

If the teacher had a handgun, the sudent would have learned the valuable lesson -- not to bring a knife to a gunfight.

Naaa. When we outlaw machetes, only students will have machetes.
Now... where's my Glock?
