Target Corp red Hmmm this surprises the heck out of me, given the fact that they have kicked the Salvation Army out of their stores and my nephew, now serving in the Army told me not to shop at target because of something they did to not support the troops, I don;t remember what they did, but it didn't make him happy...

Your brother is the victim of an Urban Legend.

Thanks for the informative post! I have bookmarked that stie. If you go back to the home page, you can find this sort of ranking for many more businesses besides large retail stores - very good reading which will help me make some informed decisions.

And the BEST PART is, this is supposed to be a tool for Dims to steer their crowd to the blue-leaning businesses! I bet it would really curdle their eggnog to know we were using their information to boycott the same businesses!

From Snopes (see post #22)
The Target Corporation (which now also includes the Mervyn's and Marshall Field's chains of department stores) is a publicly held U.S. firm which has been based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, since it began as the Dayton Dry Goods Company in 1902. Target is not now, nor has it ever been, foreign-owned.

If one were to expand that list to other sectors of the economy, like tech for instance, Microsoft (Bill Gates in particular) has been known to dole out money even handedly to either side of the political spectrum. Now, businesses like Costco for instance being shaded blue doesn't surprise me in the least. Their business model is built around the Liberal business model (Costco is employed by unionized workers with all the benefits that come with being in a union), whereas Wal-Mart isn't employed by unions, and get lambasted because they do not provide equally good health care benefits as unionized employees of Costco get.

And don't forget to not shop French owned companies and Target is not actually french owned at least not according to an email my cousin sent that I checked out on one of those "urban legends" sites.

French owned companies that come to mind (used to have a list in my purse)
Maybelline
Michellin
Yoplait Yogurt
All roquefort cheese made in France
Wild turkey
Red Roof Inns
Motel 6

Unlike the other wafflers who walk both sides of the fence,
Dollar Stores are unabashedly 100 PERCENT REPUBLICAN.
Do your Christmas shopping online,

Oh, no! In the fast food category, Arby's and Sonic are extremely BLUE! Those are two of my kids' favorite places - I am going to have to figure out a good way to steer them to other destinations.

(Although, my very bright 10-year old son would probably choose to not eat there himself if I told him they donated large amounts of money to Kerry.)

Before I get accused of being a shill for Target, I have to admit that I do not like this:
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/fcuk.asp
Claim: A company known as FCUK is promoting their fragrance with a "scent to bed" advertising campaign.
Origins: French Connection United Kingdom is a real company, a vendor of youth fashion, shoes, fragrances, and other items, and their better-known suggestive initialism, FCUK, is used to maximum effect in ads which urge their youthful consumers to "fcuk him" or "fcuk her." The company also announced the opening of their biggest store to date with a full page ad reading "The World's Biggest FCUK."

I would drop Wal-Mart off the good list because Hillary! is on their board.

Home Depot gets a brownie point for NOT selling to the givernment. (They do not want to have to meet quotas)

Try Wendy's, VERY Red, and very pro-adoption. Despite Dairy Queen's red standing, it's basically owned by Warren Buffet, who is a Planned Parenthood zealot. Worse still, internationalist population control programs are where his billions go when he dies.

And let's not forget Hobby Lobby. Any store that plays nothing but Christian music overhead has got to be "red".

The coasts should be red and the heartland blue.

You're so right about that, but those colors have been around too long and are going to stick.

We were deliberately 'smeared' with the RED label. No matter the name, we're going to shove that coveted BLUE label down their collective throats.

Hobby Lobby also honors the Lord's Day by closing on Sunday... that's putting your money where your mouth is!

I've never shopped at Target ever since I found out that it is foreign owned and operated by a French firm.

It's not. It's owned by Dayton-Hudson, who also own Mervyn's and other stores. It's a publically traded company, and AFAIK, no major stockholder is French. The "don't support the troops thing" is also somewhat bogus, they give as much support to their employees who are activated Guard/Reserve as other major companies, more than most in fact. That still doesn't excuse their caving in to their lawyers on the Salvation Army thing. Their reason for not allowing the bellringers outside their stores is that their lawyers tell them that if they allow that, they would have to allow groups such as NAMBLA or even individual panhandlers, outside their stores. Might be true in one or two states, but otherwise I don't think it's really the case.

Looking a bit deeper makes me question some of the research those people did, for example Fox News Corp is listed as a blue company. Not that it is that unbelievable, but if it is true why do the commie libs whine like mules every time they mention it?

And Hooters is listed as a Very republican company, 96%, I know it is not impossible, but it is hard to imagine the GOP and hOOters working together.

Furthermore General Electric is pretty heavily GOP at 67%, but they own NBC.

But the site is a good start.
