"Unfit For Command" Author Considers Challenging Kerry in Senate Race

John Kerry's nightmarish challenge by his Swift Boat veterans and their allies may not be over.

NewsMax recently chatted with Jerry Corsi, the co-author with Swiftee John O'Neill of "Unfit for Command" – the runaway New York Times best seller that torpedoed Kerry's presidential campaign.

Attending a conference in the suburbs of Washington recently, Corsi let it be known that he is actively considering a run against Sen. Kerry when his term is up.

Corsi is not a Massachusetts native, but says he has already scouted for property to declare his residence there.

He appeared excited about the challenge. Federal law allows him to declare his candidacy at any time and open up a full fusillade against the Senate's most liberal member.

Corsi thinks his criticisms of Kerry will be well received in the state that elected Republican Mitt Romney. Even Bush fared better in Massachusetts in 2004 against its home state candidate than he did against Gore in 2000.

Corsi also notes that his Italian-Irish ancestry will give him an edge in a state given to ethnic voting. Kerry is neither Irish nor Italian, Corsi notes.

As word has circulated about a possible candidacy, Corsi says he has been flooded with e-mails of support.

Corsi said he has read news reports that Kerry is considering a lawsuit against him, O'Neill and the Swift Boat Vets.

Presumably the suit would be for defamation. The New York Post's Page Six quoted a top aide to Kerry saying the senator would need to file such a suit if he has any prayer of making a presidential bid in 2008. Incredibly, Kerry is said to be considering such a run.

Corsi said he and O'Neill have discussed the possibility of the lawsuit, and both said they might offer to pay Kerry for the FedEx charges to serve them with any court papers.

"Quote me: Bring it on!" Corsi said with a chuckle.

"Keep in mind that sKerry has a multi billion dollar bankroll backing him in a lawsuit fight."

Even if he had trillions, he'd still have to submit a form 180 in response to discovery. Within weeks, all of his service record would be in O'Neill's hands and kerry would be dead in the water.

Expenses? We gave O'Neill 27 million and we can do it again. When he wins the suit, kerry will have to pay back every penny, including O'Neill's loss of income and all related losses/expenses. My check book is open as we speak.

Hmmm, it looks like it's just not safe for Kerry to go back in that water again...

"Defamation" requires the telling of a lie, if I'm not mistaken.

I guess the "bull" skerry is blustering.

could someone with a history of anti-Catholic remarks even hope to be competitive in Massachusetts?

Ha ha, Corsi is himself Catholic. His "anti-Catholic bias" is an MSM construction.

Yes, but as a fellow freeper you have to know when sarcasm or even constructive criticism is being used. I am also a Catholic, and I don't have thin skin. I recognize that the Church has had a black eye over the years due to terrible actions by some of its Priests.

I say now and I will continue to say that the Catholic community can't allow this to continue. Its not right and it needs to be fixed. No whitewash, no excuses, just fix it.

Priests that have displayed that behavior have to go. No ifs, ands, or buts. It's a sickness that can't be cured and the Priests have to be removed or excommunicated, or whatever it takes.

I will say that I, as well as every other boy my age in my neighborhood were altar boys and we talked to our Priest constantly as we were growing up. We were in his presence without other adults many times and he never was anything but a great man. Never was anything even hinted about or questioned. He was just a great man and a great human being. Thats what I remember. But I can still see, and I don't deny that there may have been Priests that were not like ours.

If Mr. Corsi was saying something bad about Catholics, even in jest, I'm sure it was justified and I wouldn't hold that against him at all.

At least with Cathlocism you can say something derogatory and not have a fatah called, such as the Muslims and what they did to Mr. Theodore Van Gogh.

I would like to know how Kerry would handle such a competitor.

It's not hard to guess. Corsi would be labeled a one-issue kook carpetbagger in the newspapers, Kerry would ignore him, and go on to win re-election with 80+% of the vote.

Massachusetts does not need well-meaning individuals from other states to inflict 2008's version of Alan Keyes on our senate race. We need to build our bench and our party with homegrown candidates who actually have some appeal to voters here. Corsi ain't it. This is a fantasy. Save your money for a real candidate.

I'd love it if Corsi did this.

Let me guess: you don't live in Massachusetts.

How about someone from Massachusetts that can actually win the race?

How about a Dem running against Kerry in the primary?

How about a Dem running against Kerry in the primary?

Democrats in this state like Kerry. Why would Kerry be any easier to defeat than Snarlin' Arlen, who unlike Kerry, actually opposes most of what his party and supporters stand for? Only one senator has lost a primary in the last 10 years--Bob Smith of New Hampshire--and that was after he'd temporarily abandoned the GOP for his own personal party.

This is a pipe dream. We need to get Mitt to run against Kerry in the middle of his second successful term as governor.

Will John Edwards be representing him in this case? Oh wait there's not enough money in channeling a dead VC teen who Kerry shot in the back.
all the pieces come together all of a sudden, this is why sKerry saved 40 million from his campaign, to pay Edwards's hourly rates for the next few years when Johnny is gonna be out of a job! Sure would love to see the DUmmies reactions to all this :)

I basically agree with you, and I don't think his intemperate remarks will hurt him with most Catholics.

Most Catholics don't want to hear some Christian from some other denomination take the Church to task using intemperate language. They really don't want to hear a Catholic do that either, but in Mr. Corsi's case he was attacking a specific area of the present day Church that everyone was just sick about. And many Catholics were thinking exactly what he was saying, just not the way he was saying it. Besides all that, he did apologize.

I would definitely contribute to his campaign, I only hope he's pro-life. Based on his profile, I think he can win. But I'd like to know what he looks like. Not that it would matter to me, but I'd be better able to predict his chances, because unfortunately, looks matter to the electorate at large. Oh well, if he's Italian, chances are good, right?

Anyway, I hope he runs, runs ably and wins.

"Kerry would stand before them and say, "Let he among you cast the first stone!" Then they'd do lunch."

Sen. Russell Long defended Tom Dodd on corruption charges by asserting that Dodd was "no more crooked than any other senator." (Didn't win any friends in the cloakroom for that remark.)
