Pingworthy?
African-American Kwame 'Joe Don' Harris agrees. "Just because I'm black, teachers were always pushing me to go to Spellman to study Langston Hughes and Thelonius Monk," says the 17 year old. "These ol' boys here never laugh at my dream to be a crew chief for the Craftsman Truck Series."

It's funny 'cause it's true. My sister lived in a commune and planted trees and breast fed her son til he was FOUR. Now at 22, he wants to be a professional boxer!!

In Bainbridge Island, Washington, single mom Jane Michelson says she began suspecting that her son Brian was in trouble after he started hanging with a new crowd at school. "These weren't normal kids, neighborhood kids in Che t-shirts who want to drop a couple of hits of X and chill on Radiohead," she says. "They would talk in a sort of strange code language, like 'Roll Tide!' and 'Gig 'em Ags!' and 'Piiiig Sooieeee!'" Signs of trouble would soon multiply.Obviously, the writer is writing fiction. On left-of-liberal Bainbridge Island, the little darlings are all protesting dropping the atomic bomb on Japan and hurling "Baby Killer" invectives at the one young soldier home from Iraq brave enough to march in the Memorial Day parade. I kid you not. But it sure is fun to read.

I do believe you're right about the values.
And the Dukes of Hazard thing...my momma wooda knocked my brains out if I ever put on a pair of daisy duke shorts. If my daughters had tried to wear them, I wooda snatched them bald-headed.

I have taken a liking to country music since dubya was re-elected hehehe.
When I saw Lee Ann Womack do "I Hope You Dance" at the RNC I thought I'd open my mind up to country. And this is coming from a RUSH fan (RUSH-best thing that ever came out of Canada).

Lee Ann Womack had George Straits love child.
If you're new to country music you may not know that....it's just an F.Y.I kinda thing.
It was a firstorm when it happened a few years back.

This is hysterical--and there's a grain of truth in it. I'm from Lake Forest, Illinois. Grew up riding to hounds, vacationing in Europe, and going to the symphony. My gorgeous daughter, sixteen, wears a ballcap that says "Dixie Girl" on it, knows how to drive a Ford F-350 V-8 diesel dually and pull a stock trailer full of horses she either broke herself or could have broken herself, loves rodeo, and knows all the words to every Gretchen Wilson song (to paraphrase Gretchen herself). Her boyfriend is a Marine in Fallujah and her car is covered with Bush stickers. She belongs to the NRA and loves shooting.
The difference between the parents in this article and me is that I am proud as punch of my JROTC girl, I wear a NRA ballcap, and I too know all the words to "Redneck Woman," which I sing at the top of my lungs with all the car windows open so as to shock the liberals from Chevy Chase.

There is more than a grain. My daughter is a straight A honors student at a very liberal high school. She met some good ol' boys on a Florida vacation and was more impressed with them than she ever was with her peers at HS. She is a Republican through and through but will fight to the death for any liberal to be heard. She wants to be a doctor but has decided that she needs to be a small town MD where she can be with people that are more like her. It is an amazing thing to see.
She just read the essay and found it absolutely spot on.
