(Vanity) Why are so many liberal women "mean girls"?

Have just finished reading the numerous replies -- some of them truly heart breaking -- of this evening's post "Lost an Old Friend Today. Politics and the Personal"; and I find that far and away most of these intense,friendship-breaking liberals mentioned in these posts are women. (Obviously, not all.)

Add to this that in many news stories it seems to be chiefly women who protest this or that by climbing trees or running around with their blouses off; or that when it come to really off-the-wall legal ruling(s), college admin. decisions, local government declarations, etc. odds are pretty darn good that,well, cherchez le femme (Once again, obviously not all.)

So that got me wondering why are so many "everyday" (non-MSM types) female liberals so intense/noisy/nasty/passionate/insistent/mean spirited? The MSM types I can understand. After all, bad manners make good publicity, and good publicity sells more books, gets one more TV appearances, more time on the lecture circuit, etc.

But I'm talking about everyday liberal women who have nothing to gain, and so very much to lose.... Why do they do what they do and act the way they act?*

I'd sure like to here some opinions on that.

*(And IMHO not that many of them seem to mellow with age.)

I'm in Seattle and the Democratic runner for Governor - Christine Gregoire was on talking about the recount (Republican Dino Rossi won the recount by 42 votes!).

She would smile and nod her head at the question so sweet. Then would scowl and loudly say how EVERY vote must count. When asked if the count was only going to be done King County (60+ percent democrat) she would loudly say how they are looking at all options. And every vote needs to be counted. Like some how the evil Republicans are stealing ballots, etc.

Remember, most women are neither left, right, or even political. However, the Leftist females I've known have been hideously amoral.



Funny, my friend is one of the most amoral human beings I have ever met, except when it comes to her politics. Then she is shrill, entitled and demanding.

Part of the problem is that liberalism is now more of a club than a political philosophy. Libs view themselves as the "cool kids." Therefore, if you are a conservative, you can be attacked, mocked, humiliated or shunned without any guilt.

It is much like the Muslim idea of dhimmitude applied to high school cliques.

I asked my husband this many times during the lead up to the last election. It seemed like every woman representing the democrats side during the various newstainment shows were shrieking banshees. I couldn't pay attention to any argument they had for their position because I was usually so disconcerted by their yelling and rude behavior.

I don't know much about Jackie Kennedy but I heard once that the reason she spoke so softly was so that the listener would have to lean in and really pay attention to what she was saying. I don't have any idea if that's true or not but I wish they would teach other women in the democratic party that technique since proper manners and civility seem to be to difficult for them to grasp.

Being a male stoat, I may not be able to provide the perspective that you seek. I can, however, convey some notions that may, at least tangentially, relate to your question.

My experience suggests to me that for many people, men and women alike, politics has come to substitute faith in their lives. Liberalism, being emotionally and not rationally-based, appeals to those who are confused and are looking for a belief system that can be endlessly argued and justified, without the bother of dealing with factual evidence.

For men, this can address their spiritual needs to some extent, but for women the attraction is multilayered in that in addition to a thin veneer of spiritual comfort it provides a justification for militant feminism and a host of other Leftist "women's issues". For women, it can not only supplant a true spiritual life but a home life as well. Women who have failed in dating, life and love find comfort in an ideology that tells them that it's all the man's fault.

I have lost all friends of my youth as I came to study history more and more and discovered how utterly bankrupt the modern liberal (Socialist) ideology is. None cited a reason for their disaffection to me; they just stopped returning my calls and letters. I suppose communicating becomes difficult when you have nothing of substance to say, and it's so very much easier when you can surround yourself with those who engage in mindless chatter pertaining to feelings rather than substance.

I used to hold to a few liberal ideas in my college days but smartened up over a 22+ marriage and the same in the working world.

There is a certain subset of women who believe that their emotions are equivalent to facts. These women, liberal or conservative, make life heck for all they encounter. Essentially, they are divas.

Because they are relatively selfless in their personal lives, they are catered to by their family and friends. The high maintenance bill comes due so much later that people are duped.

Women really ARE much more vicious on emotional level than most men. These divas just use it to manipulate others politically (more or less).

I have a friend of 15 years who has not called me since July because of politics. We never have political discussions because we are polar opposites so she never had a reason to cut me off. She is simply incensed that I am a Libertarian with conserative values. I expect she will call shortly when she needs a shoulder to cry on about her chaotic personal life.

They hate themselves for not daring to be Outed Lesbians. They hate men, and of course the feelings are returned. They hate happy women, and the feelings are returned. They hate their lives; The ones that are married know they are living a script written by someone else, and the script has no plot, and soon, they will be forty+.

Then, there is nothing left for them but to drive a Volvo covered with "Godess" stickers, Stickers that proclaim "Women need Men Like a Fish Needs a Bicycle", "When God Made Man, She Was Joking".

Thye go home, mumbing to themselves, to their 200 cats.

They die alone.

Because all their role models since childhood have told them that they need to get in touch with their inner bitch if they want to get anywhere in life; that it's fun, interesting, and exciting to be a acid-tongued harpy; and by the time they learn that this technique only works for a very small minority of women who don't mind living alone, have no real friends, and for the most part only exist in movies or on TV, it's too late for them to learn self-control -- which in turn makes them only more lonely, bitter, and unpleasant.
