Have just finished reading the numerous replies -- some of them truly heart breaking -- of this evening's post "Lost an Old Friend Today. Politics and the Personal"; and I find that far and away most of these intense,friendship-breaking liberals mentioned in these posts are women. (Obviously, not all.)
Add to this that in many news stories it seems to be chiefly women who protest this or that by climbing trees or running around with their blouses off; or that when it come to really off-the-wall legal ruling(s), college admin. decisions, local government declarations, etc. odds are pretty darn good that,well, cherchez le femme (Once again, obviously not all.)
So that got me wondering why are so many "everyday" (non-MSM types) female liberals so intense/noisy/nasty/passionate/insistent/mean spirited? The MSM types I can understand. After all, bad manners make good publicity, and good publicity sells more books, gets one more TV appearances, more time on the lecture circuit, etc.
But I'm talking about everyday liberal women who have nothing to gain, and so very much to lose.... Why do they do what they do and act the way they act?*
I'd sure like to here some opinions on that.
*(And IMHO not that many of them seem to mellow with age.)
So what do you think we, conservative single women, should do to encourage single conservative men to move to NJ? :-)

I don't think it's the politics as much as it is sexual attitudes and experiences.
Women are wired to need mutual love to be happy in relationships. In colleges, it is in vogue to reduce yourself to a vagina these days. When women conciously become vaginas for the taking, they are violating their own biology, they become very hardened, bitter, and cynical.
Conservative women tend to be more "uptight" and therefore inadvertedly shield themselves from the bitterness and hardness that the Vagina Monologue chicks experience.
I'm a poster child for the "lib at 20, conservative at 40" canard. I only began using the internet for political research after the 2000 election, so I'm coming a little late to the party compared to many here. You're older by only a year, but obviously with a much more seasoned knowledge base.
But hey, I'm enjoying soaking it all in and finally getting "the rest of the story".

I don't know -- just keep looking, I suppose. But be prepared to relocate -- a friend met and married a fellow from Ohio and moved there.
Liberals run on emotion, and hate is like crack cocaine to them. Cheap, temporarliy invigorating, nasty letdown, and a total Jones. The gotta come back for more - lacking any sort of real values, it's the only way they can inject any meaning into the shrieking void that passes for their lives.
Those of us who live by a different set of values - love, comprehension, achievement and individual freedom - know better. We don't need to hate in order to justify our existence.

This reply is being directed to you both in response to your excellent and congruent posts in #49 and #47 respectively.
Based on my observations, the propensity towards "ugliness/spitefulness" in liberals cuts across both men and women fairly equally. I too have wrestled with the question of whether anger creates the liberal or liberalism facilitates becoming a truly angry person. My non-scientific conclusions are as follows:
Physical Characteristics:
Liberal women tend toward either very shorn or very long hair, minimal makeup, intentionally unflattering clothes, earthy-type sandals, and irregular bathing accompanied by peculiar choices in fragrance, such as patchouli oil. Body piercings and tattoos are socially obligatory. If eyeglasses are needed, frames are often chosen to make a "bold" statement. The women tend to be lean, physically fit, or otherwise aware of the importance of exercise.
Liberal men tend toward an ectomorphic body type with a variety of hairstyles as popular, but an intentionally shaggy cut being the favored standard. Liberal men tend to favor expensive hipster/retro clothes coupled with the latest footwear. Body odor is not considered problematic in liberal men and they similarly share interest in applying patchouli oil. Similarly, body piercings and tattoos are de rigueur. High levels of physical fitness or muscularity is rare.
These generalizations above typically apply to liberal "foot soldiers" one is likely to encounter at demonstrations or political gatherings. Additionally, these characteristics seem to serve as a "uniform" to allow easier recognition by people of similar political outlook. At the upper echelons of monetary income and fame, one encounters the opposite approach, such as people like Brad Pitt or Jennifer Anniston.
Outlook / Mentality:
Anger towards a broad array of alleged oppressors is frequently noted, coupled with a genuine belief of a sense of entitlement. This characteristic is observed repeatedly over the course of many years in both liberal men and women.
While acceptance, inclusion, diversity, individuality, artistry, and flexibility are considered paramount, liberal men and women are often fearful of living in areas not populated by others of identical mindset. Liberals are expert at embracing these concepts on a global or holistic basis, but have difficulty applying them locally. An example is that a liberal is unlikely to assist an individual in need of help carrying heavy grocery bags, but will instead endeavor to be the spokesperson for an entire country of millions of oppressed people.
Differences of opinion often result in hostility that is occasionally escalated to acts of violence. If the target of their anger is superior to them in physical strength or intelligence, a predictable liberal tactic is to label them as "bigoted and intolerant" as intellectual cover until additional research can be conducted. If this additional research yields the same result, these descriptions (even if erroneous) will be used permanently.
Observation Notes:
These physical and mental characteristics were noted on a random basis through a variety of sources. Sample size is unknown. Observations are non-scientific and are a blend of first-person and researched information. It was a hoot to encapsulate everything I've witnessed by liberals here!

Jeeze, where were you when I was back home in NYC. All I ever meet are liberal, materialistic Manhattan chicks or dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks Staten Island chicks.
Finally, someone I can agree with and it only took 77 posts. I have had just as many, screaming, foaming at the mouth male liberals in my face, as their female counter parts. In fact, the males seem to try to intimidate you by leaning right into your face as they scream hysterically. So in my experience, while both sexes of liberals are bad, the males are more physically aggressive.
Also notice that liberal 'men' always seem to yell at women. Real tough guys....
You can have my vote when you pry it from my cold dead fingers and being a conservative woman, I'm armed.
I haven't encountered many physically intimidating dems; then again, I look like an extra on The Sopranos, so I don't get many physically intimidating men in my life anyway.
In any case, dem women are no worse than dem men, which is to say, 'both stink!' ;-)
