Since when did this become about Soros, and not about a free election?Since Soros dropped 27 megabucks into a US election through various measures of questionable legality.

Exactly, some propagandist cannot understand this one.

What exactly is going on in the Ukraine? Are there any 'good guys'?
Aside from the natural national ambitions of the Ukrainian people and the long history of oppression under first the Czars and then the Soviets, is it in OUR national interest to back one side or the other?
No flames please -- I simply have not followed this story.
I'll second that. I'm shrugging my shoulders here. I don't know enough of the players to know who is the good or the bad guys or all they just people with only a certain amount of good vs. bad in them? Do we have a choice that is only between "bad or worse?" I feel a bit dumb myself on this one, I don't know too much of what's going on there besides the strife.

It is precisely about Ukraine being made into another NATO state on the border of Russia, and about the plans of some to break Russia into many small countries, more easily controlled.

You are correct! Thank God the Ukranians do not have the lobbying power of the Jews or the Cubans.

The US has asked Ukraine not to certify the results. What more do you need than that?

Why was Soros so much against the re-election of Bush? I've seen a theory floated that the Bush administration has made shady currency speculation much more difficult. Currency speculation is where Soros made his fortune.

Right, while he's shipping arms to Iran and anyone else who wants them. He AIN'T our friend and never has been.

Now that the US has taken this position, I don't see any graceful way to back down, so the US won't. Putin has been making overtures to Israel in the wake of the Beslan massacre, but for much longer has been working to reassemble the USSR. Powell is anti-Israel, and Putin is trying to maneuver Russia back into a position of influence in the Middle East.
The EU will have to decide what its position is about the election...

Since when did this become about Soros, and not about a free election?Ah yes, Soros is of course, only putting millions into Ukraine because he cares about freedom. Just as he supports the chechen terrorists.

When thieves would be in your home probably you would wish to see police there as well. Maybe to help clean up the mess. I'll take care of the thieves myself. The police might be about as likely to shoot me or a member of my family as to shoot the thieves.

Sorry, no can do. The Ukraine is an active ally in the WOT. They have fought alongside our men in Iraq.
That isolationist logic was attempted when the blitzkrieg took down free nations. The ensuing 50 years should not be forgotten so quickly.
Ivan has no place in their free election. He has no place in Georgia or Belarus either, but is making moves there as well.
Who is going to stop this? If they ask for help we should deliver without reserve.
