QUITO, Ecuador Mexico and Washington agreed to introduce similar legislative initiatives whereby Mexican workers who paid into Social Security in the United States will be refunded their contributions when they return to their homeland, President Vicente Fox said here Monday.
"The initiatives entail the recognition of all those (Mexicans) who have worked in the United States legally or otherwise, so they will have the right to the savings they accumulated while working in the neighboring country," said Fox, who is visiting Ecuador.
During a news conference with Mexican journalists accompanying him on his travels, Fox announced that he and U.S. President George W. Bush agreed to simultaneously introduce in their respective Congresses what he dubbed the "Pay in Full" program initiatives.
Fox and Bush met in Santiago during the weekend summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.
During their meeting, Fox said, the two leaders made "very valuable" advances in talks on a guest worker program for Mexicans in the United States.
"The initiatives entail the recognition of all those (Mexicans) who have worked in the United States legally or otherwise, so they will have the right to the savings they accumulated while working in the neighboring country,"
Yessirree, this sounds like a real "conservative" initiative: social welfare money for foreign criminals. If it passes, the stampede can only accelerate. And the bankrupt Social Security IOU pile will get worse.
Neverending madness ping.
Now that President Bush has been re-elected, we should be safe in assuming that every recommendation he makes from now on is what he really believes in.
Works for me.
Wish I could get this deal!! where do I sign up to be an illegal alien?
I guess they'll have to raise the retirement age to 80 for the rest of us.
He didn't say they can't come back.
AAAAAAARRRGH!!
I imagine that the possibilities for fraud with this scheme are limitless.
Good, give them their savings, deduct any government services received by them or their family, deport them and identify the lawbreaking employers for fines.
Then those old, retired Mexicans are going to be making lots of cross-border trips in your world...as Social Security pays out monthly, not in lottery lump sums...
So what does Mexico have to legislate for this? Why are they to introduce legislation?
This sounds like another raid on Social Security to me. Sneak across the border, steal some poor saps social security number and work a few months, and then go home with the whole bundle?
Meanwhile poor-sap is none the wiser.
Rinse, Repeat.
Imagination is a wonderful thing.
So......................
If I announce that I'm now a mexican and will be returning to mexico, the dept of treasury will pay me the total amount of contributions that have been confiscated from my earnings for the past 28 years?
Can I get my contributions if I migrate to Mexico?
I'll be sending some faxes to Frank Wolf courtesy of numbersusa.com on this one.
Where does it say they have to be old, and how do you know it isn't a lump sum? Sure sounds like it is to me from the article.
Someone in Mexico couldn't deposit the check and do a wire-transfer of the money back to the USA each month?
First deduct the cost of all public assistance received, education costs for any children and whatever else is appropriate.
