The black community has an identity problem. They, for decades, have identified themselves with poverty. They are kept in poverty by Democratic handouts and this constitutes slavery in the 21st century. The day the blacks respect achievement and not victimization will be the day they will be free and the day they will register and vote Republican. We can only hope that this happens within our life time. Sad to say I don't think it will until the generation of the 60s and 70s has died out and their children, that have not been fed bigotry with their mothers milk, will be able to self realize their proper role and accomplishments in the modern world. That will be the day we will see them, en mass, turn away from rap, ghetto style, violence, and drugs that currently dominates their lives.

Is this guy saying that Harold Ford Jr. is not a Liberal? I lived in his district for a long time, and his father's before. Ford comes from the most powerful and politically corrupt family anywhere. He could not get elected outside the 9th District anywhere in Tenn. for any position.

While Thurmond was at one time a segregationist Democrat, it receives little notice that he switched parties in 1964, denounced his prior leanings and was the first Southern senator to hire a black in his senate office – something no Southern Democrat had ever done.

What was Sen. Thurmond's love child name? There was a segment on the family recently. They spoke very well (with love) about the old guy.
