Heck, my old man always brought me a six pack and let me sit in the truck while he was in the bar. Not when I was seven, mind you. More like 13.

Lovely. They were homeless and living in her car when this happened. They had no money to provide a home, but they had money to drink.

Officers knocked on the trunk but got no response, prosecutor Jeffrey Dort said at Powell's arraignment. A dog was in the car's passenger compartment.

Police went into the bar and an announcement was made for Powell to go to her car outside. She responded and the boy was freed, authorities said. A sleeping bag, pillow and car battery were in the trunk, Dort said.

The child, who had been in the trunk about four hours, acted as though he had been coached not to make any noises and not to tell anyone what had happened, police said.

The boy told police he had been placed in the trunk about 10 times before, Dort said.

Powell said she couldn't find a babysitter and wanted to celebrate her birthday, the prosecutor said.

Faria was arrested Aug. 27 when he returned to San Diego from San Bernardino and tried to visit the boy.

Attridge said the couple – who had been together four years – were sleeping in the car and were homeless at the time of the incident.

Both were charged with seven felony counts, some involving driving the car on at three least occasions with the child in the trunk.

Hopefully she'll now have a small room and three squares for months and months to come.

This is the selfish kind of woman where you want to yank out the ovaries & uterus so that she can never have any more children.

Kids don't ever ask to be born; when we become parents, we give up our wants for the sake of their needs. So what if she misses a birthday celebration, even if it's her own?

The child needs to be taken away from this selfish woman; what other things has she put that child through because she wanted something?

"So what if she misses a birthday celebration, even if it's her own?"

Here's an even wilder idea. Maybe she could have celebrated her birthday with her son like most parents do. Heck, if it weren't for my wife and daughter my birthday would be just another day at work. They seem to think birthdays are important, so I humor them.

Unfortunately... this wasn't the first time they (his mom and BF) locked him in the trunk. He told police it happened "sometimes." Which may or may not, in kid-speak, mean - a lot. They had a hole drilled for him and everything. Real sweethearts, aren't they? (SICK).

And yes - birthdays are important to those who love you. Keep humoring them :)

Sounds like this will be a story line for desperate housewives

Life is after all, about them and not the children they bore.

Give this woman a break. At least she didn't cut off the kid's arms.

The most disgusting thing about this is that the poor child is going to be shipped back to this woman and her loser shack-up, to be "reunited as a family".

Hopefully the court will not ship him back in a trunk.

More liberal entitlement mentality.... I don't care what's right, I don't care what moral, I don't care what's best for my son.... all I care about is what I want, and I'm going to get it dammit no matter what.

What is going on this week? I've read more stories about mom's abusing and/or killing their kids than ever before. Slow news week? An epidemic? Full fruition of the NOW Agenda? Yeesh!
