Rochester (AP) Police say a woman went to a Beaver County police station and admitted fatally shooting her husband after he threatened to kill their pets.

Elsie Kost was charged yesterday with homicide in the death of her husband Edward. Police say Edward Kost was killed November 16th but authorities didn't find out about the shooting until Elsie Kost confessed to shooting him and putting his body in cistern on their property.

Elsie Kost had told others her husband was away at a hunting camp. But New Sewickley police say she told her daughter about the shooting yesterday and they decided to go to police.

Kost told authorities she had an argument with her husband and that he pushed and shoved her. Police say Edward Kost had threatened to shoot some of the family pets.

Authorities recovered Edward Kost's body yesterday.

An autopsy was planned for sometime today

I hope she gets one.

I have a feeling these threats were more numerous than this woman is suggesting. It will be interesting to see about any past indiscretions or troubles with the law in the family in the past.

After he placed the loaded gun on the kitchen table, he walked outside. Elsie Kost picked up the gun and followed her husband outside, where she shot him.

Quick! Someone call Gloria Alred because once he walked out the door, her excuse for self defense blew out the window. Pick up the gun, lock the door, call the cops, shoot the husband if he tries to re-enter the house.

Yeah, if hubby came after her once she picked up the phone, drop the bastard in his tracks.

That is what I am talking about.

"Liberal? Never! Just an animal lover. Not all people who love animals are liberals... I just don't see how anyone can harm an animal... it's beyond me!"

Here's why it was a liberal response. It was self righteous and never took into account any other reason for killing besides food. How about non-native pest species like brown tree snakes, starlings or Norway rats? Are we supposed to spare such harmful animals just because we don't intend on eating them? How about the rabbits that are tearing up your garden? We all kill on a daily basis as part of our existence. Maybe we do so in an indirect manner by paying others to do it for us, but killing is part of our life. Needless killing or cruel treatment of animals is another thing, but I think that applies only to a tiny minority of hunters.

A man absolutely hated his wife's cat and decided to get rid of him one day by driving him 20 blocks from his home and leaving him at the park. As he was getting home, the cat was walking up the driveway.

The next day he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away. He put the beast out and headed home. Driving back up his driveway, there was the cat!

He kept taking the cat further and further and the cat would always beat him home.

At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right until he reached what he thought was a safe distance from his home and left the cat there.

Hours later the man calls home to his wife: "Jen, is the cat there?"

"Yes", the wife answers, "why do you ask?"

Frustrated, the man answered, "Put that SOB on the phone, I'm lost and need directions!"

The next threat would have been against her or a human member of the family!

Article said he pushed and shoved her so, if true, sounds like she has already been threatened and/or physically abused. Possibly for years.

"Police: Woman Killed Husband After He Threatened Pets"

I think that's only legal in California.

I believe that nearly all the posters think there was much more to the husband's previous behavior than these particular threats to the pets.

They didn't get it from the article. It mentions one arguement, one incident of "push and shove". I think some here are launching on emotion and a predisposed fantasy of "previous behaviour".

Everyone, Get yourselves in control!

For all you know, the cat pissed in his shoe just one too many times.

LOL!

Yeh you're right, one too many times for HIM.

;-)

Sorry you don't see your own hypocrisy. You need mental help. You condone murder plain and simple and actually think murder is funny.

Besides that, a hunter? No regard for life in general.

My Dad and Mom raised 6 children. My dad served in the army corps of engineers in Viet Nam, then worked for LA county for twenty years. He was all about hard work and providing for his family. He taught me the values of patriotism and responsibility. He showed me by his deeds that hard work is it's own reward. He wasn't perfect but he loved his wife and kids, and served his country well. And oh by the way he was a hunter.

No regard for life in general? STFU you moron.

We are talking about a human being here.

May I say, a dead human being.

Elmer:
That is a paragraph I can agree with. Killing to satisfy needs like food, clothing (God himself killed to clothe silly Adam and Eve!) and other natural, logical reasons is acceptable. However, killing for the sake of it... that's another story altogether.

The law says she should go to prison, of course. (Death penalty? I'm not sure about the statute).

But prison is justified, and most likely in her future, I would bet.

I think you're "barking" up the right tree! She should have done what you said, if the article is correct.
