Rochester (AP) Police say a woman went to a Beaver County police station and admitted fatally shooting her husband after he threatened to kill their pets.
Elsie Kost was charged yesterday with homicide in the death of her husband Edward. Police say Edward Kost was killed November 16th but authorities didn't find out about the shooting until Elsie Kost confessed to shooting him and putting his body in cistern on their property.
Elsie Kost had told others her husband was away at a hunting camp. But New Sewickley police say she told her daughter about the shooting yesterday and they decided to go to police.
Kost told authorities she had an argument with her husband and that he pushed and shoved her. Police say Edward Kost had threatened to shoot some of the family pets.
Authorities recovered Edward Kost's body yesterday.
An autopsy was planned for sometime today

Know what? I don't blame her either. Love me, love my dog, my cat, my fish... and so on. Besides that, a hunter? No regard for life in general. The next threat would have been against her or a human member of the family!

Note to self: Pass on offer of refreshing drink of water during next visit to Casa del Kost.

I hear you!!! One exclamation point for each one of my pets.

If anyone threatened my pets, I don't know what I would do, to tell you the truth! If someone threatened my furbabies, was in the room and had the capacity to visit harm on them, I would drop them on the spot.
Threaten me? That's life. Threaten mine, that's death.

Threatening to kill the pets is a sign that hubby dear was unhinged and she was possibly in danger herself. She should have packed up the pets and left. (Said while acknowledging that I have absolutely no first hand knowledge of her situation or number and/or size of pets...)

The next threat would have been against her or a human member of the family!I'll bet he did that once or twice in the past too.

You're condemning all hunters as having no regard for life in general?

I'll bet threatening the pets was just a small part of a large abusive relationship.

I was married to an alcoholic, abusive man (WAS). Those of you who equate cruelty to pets with cruelty to persons are dead on.
I left him over the kids and the cats :-)
Now I own (or am owned) by one of those much-maligned dog breeds - said dog does not allow anyone to mess with me.

Yikes. I hope he doesn't haunt her like that chick in The Ring.
