Rochester (AP) Police say a woman went to a Beaver County police station and admitted fatally shooting her husband after he threatened to kill their pets.
Elsie Kost was charged yesterday with homicide in the death of her husband Edward. Police say Edward Kost was killed November 16th but authorities didn't find out about the shooting until Elsie Kost confessed to shooting him and putting his body in cistern on their property.
Elsie Kost had told others her husband was away at a hunting camp. But New Sewickley police say she told her daughter about the shooting yesterday and they decided to go to police.
Kost told authorities she had an argument with her husband and that he pushed and shoved her. Police say Edward Kost had threatened to shoot some of the family pets.
Authorities recovered Edward Kost's body yesterday.
An autopsy was planned for sometime today
What is your screen name on DU? Seriously, this is one of the most idiotic postings ever.
From what I read in the two stories, I think you are right on. She will be punished.
But there is a lesson in this story (one of the reasons I posted it) -- don't threaten to kill animals that are loved by a person who seems to have little to lose. You may find yourself in a cistern a few days before Thanksgiving.......... even if you didn't deserve to be!
Or ............ don't turn your back on a saddened and brutalized woman with a gun (you just left on a table in front of her).
I think that most of us who said we are on this woman's side, all feel that there is more to this 'threat' than just the animals. I am assuming this guy is a real bully and has pushed this woman around alot and perhaps even abused her pets in the past. For her to take such drastic action tells me that there is more to this than what is printed. At least I think so. IF he just made a casual threat for the first time, I don't think she would of killed him. I will therefore, withhold my true feelings until I know the whole story.
Before you break your arm patting yourself on your back, let us ask a few questions: Do you wear any makeup at all? If you do, then you may have strongly encouraged animal-cruelty in labs. If you have had any shots then you may have strongly encouraged animal-cruelty in labs. Do you partake of any foods other than what comes out of your own back yard? If so, then you may have strongly encouraged animal-cruelty in labs and in open fields when spraying is being done, for that matter. Do you wear silk? Ditto... Have you eaten meat in any form? Fish? Fowl? Ditto... I eat meat... I wear silk... I have had shots... I eat fruits and vegetables grown in areas other than my back yard. I own guns... I wear lipstick... In the middle of NOWHERE, animal life is given for the progress and safety of mankind.... Just a note so you can go look at yourself in the mirror.... Am I for cruelty for animals? No. Do I think people who are cruel to animals need to be themselves put away? Yes. NOT FOR THE SAKE OF THE ANIMAL, but BECAUSE IT TRANSLATES SO OFTEN TO DEATH FOLLOWING FOR HUMANS.... Oh. I am owned by two pooches (was three - one passed away), and a VERY hostile 18 year old cat, along with a husband. And the husband is the softy of the family!
I am with you guys on the 'he needed a killin'.
I made the foolish mistake in my younger years to hook-up with a monster who harmed and killed a few of my pets before I caught on to what he was doing. He was a sweet-faced control freak who knew he couldn't hurt me, so he hurt those I loved.
Now, my animals are my family--- they have been there when the humans have let me down. I won't let them down if I can help it. 'nuf said.
What I have a problem with is we seem to have a woman who shot her husband, hid his body, and now, because she got caught and used abuse as the reason, people here are coming to her defense. She killed her husband and hid his body! It seems to me like an excuse to curry favor with women and animal lovers. Sounds to me like a lawyer gave her the direct lines to use in order to get the jury to acquit. I can see it now " If I can get one woman who has been abused or one animal lover on the jury, you will get off". All we know for sure is that this woman committed murder and too many people are making excuses for her. I thought at FR we thought more logically than that.
God, by you and some others way of thinking, a woman could having an affair and have her boyfriend kill the husband for the bank account money. They could hide his body, clean up the scene, and just say "hey he was gonna attack me, he wanted to kill my animals, and oh yeah, he was a hunter too" if they were ever found out.
And herein lies the problem.
NO, wrong guess. But the husband is dead, even though the woman was most likely in the wrong!
So sorry for your loss...how horrible. I hope that monster gets what he deserves some day.
So now murder is not murder? And Pets are People?
Have you ever harmed a pet?
rotfl.... I hunt, wear lipstick, am owned by SIX dogs (pom, 3 pekes-one blind, chi-hua-hua (HAwaiian trembling hound), and a foster dog-Jake the cat poop yeller cattle dog. I also am owned by a guinea pig, a parrot of some viciousness, a turtle of even MORE viciousness (loggerhead), and a child who loves them all.
And you're right. The males in the area are the biggest sissies/softies....
I believe she turned herself in on her own.
Judgemental, that's me alright! Really great thinking, Let's start condoning murder on the flimsiest of excuses. Better yet, let's all start doing it ourselves.
My admonition stands.
Good post! You are right! We do all those things. I do wear make-up, and try to buy only the ones that have the bunny icon. I do eat meat, eggs, chicken and so on... probably fi I had to kill to feed myself I would turn vegetarian but I can't say for sure. I do kill roaches and rats, and would kill any form of life that threatened my life or my kids' lives. It is unnecessary cruelty what I am against. Animals were put here for our use, not for our abuse or misuse...
Ditto. I consider myself a little to the right of Attila the Hun, but I have NO tolerance for anyone who abuses an animal. Hurt my cats, and you are putting your life at risk (especially if my wife, who is a crack shot, catches you).
Well, he won't have to worry about that any more. Problem solved.
Are you a COMPLETE moron, or only blinded when it comes to fluffy little cutesy-pie creatures?
The standard on this website is to comment when you have facts. Emotional guesses as to intentions are simply that, and have ZERO validity.
And no, jackass, I have never harmed a pet. For the record however, all the pets in the world are not worth an innocent human life. Was this man innocent? Well, we don't have the facts, do we? Only a murderers story.
