HUNTER GOES BERZERK IN WISCONSIN; AT LEAST FIVE DEAD
Drudge Report ^

Posted on 11/21/2004 4:15:12 PM PST by Jotmo

EXELAND, Wis. - Five people are dead and three injured in a shooting incident that apparently began over a hunting dispute in western Wisconsin.

The confrontation began around noon in a rural area southwestern Sawyer County. Authorities said a hunting party returning to their deer shack reported seeing a hunter unknown to them occupying their tree stand. That led to a shooting.

One of the shooting victims used a walkie talkie to radio back to the deer shack for help. When the victim's hunting partners came to the scene, they were also shot.

Sawyer County was in a virtual lockdown as authorities searched for the gunman. One suspect was eventually taken into custody around 5:15 p.m.

The suspect's name has not been released.

Officials at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake said they have treated at least three gunshot victims. They said one of the victims was transported to a hospital in Marshfield, WI. Another victim is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. The third victim is in fair condition in the intensive care unit.

The eyewitness accounts that are being broadcast are that a party were hunting on private land. This fellow showed up and wanted to hunt there this morning, and they told him it was private land and that he was not welcome to hunt there.

About noon, some of the party were back in the shack and others were out hunting, and as the hunting group headed back to the shack they saw that this guy had come back again and sitting in one of their tree stands. They walked over to confront him, and that's when he opened fire.

One of the hunters had a walkie-talkie and radioed back to the shack that he'd been shot, and the rest came running out to help and apparently were ambushed.

Wisconsin is not going to ban weapons. You can be sure of that. It's a big hunting state.

Nope. Not enough. Must ban hunting along with all the other items you mentioned.

I'm sure somehow it must be Bush's fault.

My daughter uses an SKS. Provided you use good ammo (e.g., Federal 125-gr JSP), they are decently accurate out to 200 yards and quite effective on whitetails. Ballistically, they're about equivalent to a .30-30, and the gas-operated semi-auto action makes for very mild recoil and very fast follow-up shots.

Thank you! My SIL is a Doctor at Marshfield. I'll see her on Turkey Day and post insider info if I get anything out of her.

dad has one and they're a cheap semi-auto rifle.

How old is it?

I've got one, but it's an older one before they starting stamping them out in mass mass production.

Isn't Wiscinsin a blue state?

Most of the state is red but there's not enough of us to offset the big islands of insanity (and vote fraud) in Madison & Milwaukee.

Most probably NOT.

The Hmong are not recognised as a actual "people" by the low-landers. They are thought of as being worthy of genocide by the Communists.

The Hmong in general were great help to some of our Special Forces during the Vietnam era. These people would often tell the Americans where the actual "Commies" were. They would provide food and shelter, too, although they had little to offer.

Often got their villages destroyed to the last man, too, for their effort.

I know this from my daughters Godfather, who was Special Forces.
