Geez, why should the USSS be so paranoid, its not like any U.S. Presidents have ever been assassinated or anything. And who in the world would want to assassinate President Bush? And the South Americans know best about security for their leaders, they have more experience than we do what with all their coups and everything.

Summit meetings are a ripe target for just about any rogue character. Essentially one would have just about every world leader all congregated into one place at the same time. President Bush may be the biggest target there, but all those assembled there should be worried about their lives.
The behavior of the Chilean government is absolutely repugnant.

If anyone has the e-mail address of the White House, please share it here and EVERYONE e-mail them to BRING THE PRESIDENT HOME NOW, AND SEND A REGIMENT OF MARINES DOWN THERE TO SEE FOR HIS SAFETY. And everyone, please pray for
the POTUS and Laura.

"I can report to you today that having visited with the other nations involved in this collaborative effort that the will is strong, that the effort is united, and the message is clear to (North Korean leader) Mr. Kim Jong-Il: Get rid of your nuclear weapons programs," Bush said in a speech to business leaders.
This is interesting from the Turkish Press (reported just a few moments ago). Here is the link:

I think President Bush needs to decline even the dinner at this point and just set up a future video conference. I don't think I would trust the food served right now!

I was right,
Lucia Newman does report for CNN from Cuba, usually. In fact, she's their bureau chief in Havana.
She seemed to agree that the U.S. was going "overboard" on security.
Expect the rest of the lib media to echo this idiotic mantra.

but there sure is a lot of odd behavior down in Chile. The White House is playing this down to minimize diplomatic embarrassment. But an entire state dinner was canceled.
That doesn't happen on a whim. There's a lot more going on than we know.

You can go to most any South American port and see thousands of containers with the names of Chinese companies. I believe that not all are filled with cheap Chinese goods but who really knows.
Drive around the old American military base in Panama and it makes you sick to see all the old colonial houses built by the Army occupied by Chinese nut crackers. People of Panama are slowly being inundated by immigrating Chinese. The Chinese government pays the fees and moves the people in to help influence the government.
Every time I fly into the Republic Of Panama it makes me more and more aware that James Earl Carter was traitorous to his country almost as much as John Kerry and his liberal supporters would have done had he become president.

Thanks for the link. I love Bush, he simply does not pull punches, which is why this situation is more dangerous than it might be.

I don't think it's at all "melodramatic" to consider that with the level of hatred of the President in this country and abroad, there might be some danger to his life. From terrorists to eurotrash to Streisandites, many would applaud (and possibly pay bounty for) an assassination. I keep the President in my prayers daily, as do many here.

Kept my mouth shut about how dangerous it was for the Pres. to be reaching into a scrum. I would have loved to here the audio with the video. I wonder if the SS was yelling to him to take cover or that something was dreadfully wrong. I also think the the SS should have their butts whooped for failing the president and putting international decorum first.
There's something wrong in Chile and I hope our President puts his cowboy wisdom to work and knows when to get out of Dodge!
I have feared since the election that we will see an assination attempt in the next 4 years. Even press in other countries have tongue in cheek called for it. We need to realize that the President is a HVT to the enemy. If Chile isn't going to provide security and refuses to allow us to provide our own...it time to come home.
