Not tin-foil at all. If the guards had been in on it, the little incident described here could have been the diversion to allow some third party already inside to rush up with a weapon and attack the president while he was unprotected. This is very serious indeed.

I'm more than a bit concerned that the Chilean security seems to have some sort of systemic difference on the way they approach security, as opposed to the U.S. Do we chalk this up to cultural differences? I don't think so.

Very concerned about the President's visit to Columbia.

I'm sure he knows something doesn't appear kosher with
all the security "coincidences". I think he just
isn't one to stop short of taking care of business, though,
so he isn't likely to cut and run. When you think about
it, he's in danger all the time, even in the U.S., that some
nut will pull something most any time.

He's heading to Columbia next.

That FTAA deal must be pretty important.

"There is a feeling here in Chile that the U.S. tends to go overboard on security".

There is a 'feeling' here in America that we don't care what you feel.

We're supposed to trust a Communist 3rd - world fruit growing nation with the security of the POTUS?

i was on a cruise ship that stopped over in columbia. i hate that country. if they try to pull the same stunt chile did with our president, i say adios amigos... and vamoose on out of there.

i voucher to say there is little to no local security in that country.

Instead of growing a 'worldly' isolationist policy emphasizing Homeland Security, we're diving into hemispherical agreements like the FTAA.

This is just plain stupid! I'm a Libertarian and I didn't vote for Bush - but he's still my President...

What's he doing going to Columbia, still after all of this? I don't think it's a very smart idea. I think Mr. Bush should take off for Thanksgiving a little early. Just tell him something's up at the Ranch that needs his attention...

When you think about it, he's in danger all the time, even in the U.S., that some nut will pull something most any time. You are right! Bush in MHO is not afraid. I sometimes wonder if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Then on the other hand, I'm willing to bet he might get a few butterflies once in awhile under situations that could be very stressing!

But, Bush is the man! I always remember him best at the World Trade Center after it became "ground zero" and he shouted into that megaphone to the crowd. Grassontop

I agree. One of my thoughts when I heard the bodyguard story is what if it had been planned that way. Something to think about.

OPERATION PLYMOUTH ROCK IN PLACE OF THANKSGIVING. The bad guys were probably thinking our great military would be eating turkey this week but our guys are in the triangle.
