President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.
The president, looking irritated, straightened his shirt cuffs as he went into the dinner.
Boy, you can just see him, can't you?
Same here. I love this man and will be glad when he and Laura return to the United States.
I want to know why that Chilean security agent is grabbing the President security like that ... that is BS and he should not have been treated like that
It seems to me that the Chile security already DID create an international incident. The SS would be within their right to start dropping Chileans as needed to protect the pres.
My main concern in all of this is that the SS failed to do whatever was necessary to protect the pres. That disturbs me more than the acts of the chileans.
Do you know when they leave?
"For He will give His angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways." Psalm 91:11
Lord, please guard our President and First Lady and all who travel with them; give Your angels charge over them to guard them always, especially while they're out of the country.
Ditto
It is disturbing, but if the SS cannot trust the security forces of host countries, the president simply cannot travel. It's that simple.

I agree with you. This ain't right, and for his and Laura's safety, as well as to make a point, they should be pulled out of Chile IMMEDIATELY.
Hope somebody is guarding AF1 really, really well.
Dubya should start packing, and I don't mean his suit cases.
Well said.
OH man I saw on Fox news
You could tell Dubya tick off
Rackkk Dubya
I just saw the video on Fox. Awesome. This president sure has his priorities straight. His courage inspires our nation.
I am very concerned it got to this. Who were these Chilean Keystone cops? This should be very, very embarrassing for the Chilean government. I don't trust any other nation protecting our Prez. I am also with the other comments that Bush should have the Marines with him. Doesn't Alawi have US special military guarding him?
What a ridiculous way to welcome the head of the Greatest nation on earth! That scene looked like a Clown Convention!
Where is he going to be? Are the plans public?
I was kind of hoping he'd show up at my mother-in-law's...sigh!
And if they will not assure his safety, they should not be getting any of our $$$ or other forms of support.
They can help keep him safe AND still allow their country men and women to have their say--as much say as they're allowed in most of those countries . . .
Yeah, this is pretty serious. How Dubya was even able to get to the melee is beyond me.
Wonder if he spoke to the Chilean agents in Spanish?
MOO!
:-)
The USSS agent, by allowing himself to get involved in a slightly physical confrontation, was, at that time, incapable of protecting the President. That is his ONLY purpose in these types of settings. The mere fact that he was impeded shoudl have been a cause for alarm..once he realized that the President was moving away from him, he should have verbally call W back..
