Just read this on a Clinton/Jennings thread, from a Freeper: "Back in August of 1988, a new voice came on the radio, the lovable little fuzzball - el Rushbo. Prior to then, I avoided politics and editorials, because I thought I was alone in my views. I voted conservatively and privately. Then Rush gave a voice to conservative thought."
And it made me think of something I've been meaning to post for a while...
"I have seen you on lots of Rush threads spouting you hatred towards the man."
It appears you have not seen what you think you have... Be my guest to check the "In Forum" from my page and point out what you consider "spouting hatred"
Here is one of your quotes from posts on your in forum. Obviously, you did not hear Howard Dean say over and over that he wanted to take the country back from Rush Limbaugh. If you even tried to look, you would see his name mentioned frequently outside of talk radio.
Can you even begin to explain your dislike of the man?
"Obviously, you did not hear Howard Dean say over and over that he wanted to take the country back from Rush Limbaugh."
Sorry - I never listened to Howard Dean, and I don't put much stock in what DemoRats say anyway.
Is Dean an authoritative voice for what's happening in the conservative movement these days ? - I must have missed him getting that position.
There is no equal to Rush. He has been instrumental in guiding this country away from disaster. He belongs in the history books as much as any other national patriotic figure in this country.
Well put. Very well put.
You, RS. Let me point something out. You have lost it. It's obvious that you, and one other poster on this thread, are just really into tweaking people. You're arguing for the sake of arguing. You're looking at people's posts, then picking out a sliver of them and stomping it into the ground with no logic, no reason, no reasoned thought. You are not invested in whether or not Rush Limbaugh has had a profound influence on mass media's influence on this country's electorate (which is, by the way, undeniable, and what this thread has been all about), you're only interested in stirring things and people up.
Were you one of those kids who threw rocks at things they shouldn't have...then turned and ran before the rocks even landed?
Sorry RS, I though for a minute you were a new conservative that just hadn't gotten into the swing of things. Instead you are just another lame brain trying to disrupt an otherwise delightful conversation. Time and its related lame-stream publications are the last surviving relics of the brain-washing propaganda era. As for Rush, his best days are ahead of him, while your heroes are headed for the ash-heap of history. And as a little preview of things to come, ten years from now there will not be a living American who will admit they were Democrats. Or is that Dimocrats? Dumocrats, maybe? It is going to be fun watching your idols go up in smoke.
"Can you even begin to explain your dislike of the man?"
Perhaps you are confusing my interest in his drug case as a dislike ? I happen to think he's guilty, just like I think OJ is guilty, but I don't dislike either of them.
His latest exploits ( if you believe the papers ) of getting a woman's parents blessing on a presumed marriage while he is STILL married to another woman is distastefull to me, disrespectfull to all concerned and the concept of marriage, but this is the first time I have mentioned it here.
But as much as I just love talking about my thoughts, did YOU ever come up with anything ontopic ?
" Instead you are just another lame brain trying to disrupt an otherwise delightful conversation."
Sorry, thought this was News/Activism, not Kissy-face/Suckup
"It is going to be fun watching your idols go up in smoke."
Haven't had an idol since I grew up -
... but I did have fun watching "Up in Smoke" the other day...
Actually, I thought I have been very on topic. This thread was praising Rush Limbaugh's contributions to conservative America and you came in and irrationally disrupted the thread. Then, you challenge me to find your other posts to illustrate your objectivity. I found the post by you stating that outside of talk radio no one mentions Rush. I mentioned Howard Dean's quotes and you said you didn't listen to Howard Dean. How can you make the statement about no one otside of talk radio...when you apparently don't listen to much outside of talk radio?
I think post # 186 nails you.
"I think post # 186 nails you."
News/Activism threads are fair game, vanitys belong... well wherever they belong, I ignore them in most cases.
As far as Dean goes, if you feel that having a lunatic shouting Rush's name is equivalent to having a "devastating effect" it's your opinion.
This is my last post to you on this thread. You keep making statements that don't make any sense. For many dimocrats, Dean was an extremely important candidate. While you and I may agreee that he was a "lunatic, you cannot deny that he had great influence over many voters.
Your counter arguments are becoming weaker and weaker. First, you say Rush doesn't have any influence. Then when his influence is pointed out, you claim the person influenced is a "lunatic." You remind me of a person who has to keep changing his arguments to justify his position.
I'll be watching for you on the next Rush thread.
"While you and I may agreee that he was a "lunatic, you cannot deny that he had great influence over many voters."
Correct, Dean had the influence - Dean simply used Rush as a target to focus his supporters - If Rush did not exist, Dean would have used the next recognizable name on the list.
MEGA DITTOS from Texas, Rush!
I go all the way back to Dan's bake sale in Colorado. That was simply the best stuff I'd ever heard ANYWHERE. Plus he put that other voice to those I'd had for many years.
As I sip coffee from my gold rimmed Rush coffee mug, I say you are in my prayers each day Rush and I truly thank you for your "Talent on loan from God-da!"
It took a few times to "get" it, it was hard to figure out how to take him at first, but it became clear that we spoke the same language, only he was saying it out loud and spreading the word!
I had the pleasure of being a Section Leader on CIS when he had his own topic on the ISSUES forum, early 90's. He was gracious and friendly, and I have a great deal of respect for him. I don't think anyone can dispute that he forever changed the face of conservative politics in this country.
"For that, he deserves a spot in the Conservative Hall of Fame."
No doubt about it, he has done some amazing things in the past - and hopefully he will do more in the future ...
... until his present is straightened out though, he would do better for himself and the conservatives if he kept his head down - I think he realizes that more now after the latest court defeat.
Ah, early memories of Rush. I remember the first time I stumbled across him, in LA. I was listening to this guy who made a lot of sense, for a few minutes...then he identified himself as Rush. I said, That's Rush Limbaugh? I had an entirely different impression--which came, of course, from his enemies.
I also remember the "spatula City" commercial, which was a complete crack up. All the unsuspecting people trying to order spatulas. What was it Rush used to say, you had to listen to him for a certain length of time to "get" him.
As for KFI, they then bounced Tom Leykis out and replaced him with Darryl Gates, his nemesis, which was another interesting time to be a radio listener in L.A.
Well sam, all I have to say is I'm not obsessed with either Rush or DU. Appears you're one of the mind-numbed robots he spoke of in the early days. Try thinking for yourself and have enough confidence in yourself that you don't have to seek the approval of a radio entertainer for acceptance.
