Field Artillery Saves Lives, Makes History Soldiers say they are happy to make a difference in the future of Iraq.

FALLUJAH, Iraq, Nov. 19, 2004 — Throughout the First Cavalry Division, field artillery soldiers have been patrolling streets in Humvees, and conducting infantry duties. But when the multinational forces moved to siege Fallujah early November, one battery got to bring the fight to the enemy with howitzers.

For 10 months, Battery A, 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Divison, patrolled neighborhoods in west Baghdad. When their brigade was called to Fallujah, they were the primary fire support for the operation.

The battery provided both counter-fire missions and direct-fire missions for the 1st Marine Division as well as 2nd team. They began firing Nov. 4, and have since fired more than 1,700 rounds. They took on roughly 300 missions from their firebase just outside Fallujah.

“The troops on the ground give us exact coordinates and request support, and we will fire at those coordinates and hopefully destroy the enemy they are engaging,” said Capt. Michael Burgoyne, Battery A commander. “ We destroyed an enemy command and control headquarters; we’ve killed enemy snipers, bunkers, mortar teams, enemy squads.”

I've been playing the Native Instruments B4 and trying to remember some of the Santana and Allman Bros stuff I used to do. Also Booker T and the MGs.

Mostly I play blues improv. of my own design, compin' and groovin', and of course boogie-woogie piano.
