ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (AP) -- A gunman fatally shot two people and wounded a third inside a Radio Shack store
at a strip mall Thursday night, then shot himself to death, police said.
Another customer and an employee managed to escape uninjured from the store at the Gateway Shopping Center, police spokesman Bill Proffitt said.
Police did not identify the gunman, but police spokesman George Kajtsa said the man "had some mental issues, according to his family."
"He was involved in some kind of a road rage incident today that the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department is investigating," Kajtsa said. He had no other details, other than that the incident occurred well before the evening shootings.
Proffitt said investigators did not know the gunman's motive or whether he knew his victims. The Tampa Tribune previously reported that the gunman was a former Radio Shack employee, but Proffitt could not confirm that.continues...

Nice work detectives.
"AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!"
You beat me to it. I figure they asked him for his phone nnumber!
Why can't any of these guys just cut to the chase and shoot themselves FIRST!
Prioritize people.
I have often wanted to go on shooting rampages in Radio Shack stores. You guys on the left coast are lucky to have Fry's, a good alternative.
What was this about? Fighting over rechargeable battery brands?
As I walked over to the counter to call the cops he kept tring to reach into the bag. I kept knocking his hand away. When I got to the counter the two of them ran out the door, laughing (I was alone and couldn't really stop them).
When the cops came we looked into the bag and discovered what he must have been reaching for: a 12" long kitchen knife.
I took the rest of the day off.
Just recently on a multi-state trip I stopped off at a gas station in a small town. After gassing up my car I parked it and walked back to pay the bill. On the way there I came across this man standing behind a pick-up truck who angrily told me, "Go that way!" and gestured to the direction I was going anyway.
I looked into the eyes and saw unbelievable anger and wildness.
I checked with the lady at the cash register and she said, "Yeah, everybody walks gingerly around him as he can fly off at the least provocation."
You gotta be careful.
They obviously do a reverse search on them because I started to get mailings from RS and other places that I never heard of.
I said then, that if I ever went back in to RS and they asked me for personal info, I was going to walk out and not return.
I went back, they asked for my address and PH# and I walked out.
I've not been in a RS for about 10 years, now.
I will not go in to one, just for that reason.
I suspect they have lost quite a bit of business because of that policy.
(Plus, they are a bit overpriced in my opinion.)
I just say 'no'. They've never refused my money.
I always give such places the telephone number and address for the local sewage treatment plant.
(Plus, they are a bit overpriced in my opinion.)""
Overpriced is only half the problem.
Under serviced is the other problem.
The last time I bought anything there they asked for my name and I said John Wayne. The guy froze in place. End of questions.
The real Radio Shack motto: You've got questions, we've got acne.
Would that lead to Assault and battery charges?
Try what I did once. When the "clerk" asked me for my last name, I said "Sale". He had a hard time spelling that, and then asked for my first name and I said "Cash". After a few seconds of letting this puzzle sink into his pea brain, I said, "Just write down Cash Sale and don't ask me any more questions.
He had a difficult time comprehending that, but after some hesitation and herculean mental gymnastics on his part, I walked out with my merchandise.
I seldom purchase anything from RatSh!t because they can take a piece of wire 2" long and turn it into krap (tm). Sometimes they are the only place to buy some simple electronic part, but their stuff has been so bad, that I'll go to the local Rite-Aid, Walgreens or Walmart instead of buying from RatSh!t.
There *is* some pleasure though in saying "Just write down cash sale, ring it up and give me my stuff" to the stupid retard there.
About the only question they have answers to is "where's the door?"
Yes, the guy had a history but it wasn't taken seriously. Our law enforcement would rather hand out parking tickets than watch habitual criminals. Remember Carlie Brucia of Sarasota? Kidnapped and killed by a habitual criminal.
Florida's law enforcement is the BARNEY FIFE VARIETY, especially PINELLAS COUNTY.
Since his picture has been on local tv, I can say that he was not a member of the religion of peace. He was an angry, balding while male. for real
The killer looked like Mark Hacking of Utah who shot his wife. Very close resemblance. His sister looks like a NOW member. Cropped hair, no makeup - very plain. She was interviewed by www.baynews9.com (exclusive interview with them).
