Toronto School Children Forced to Endure Homosexual Sensitivity Training
LifeSite ^ | November 17, 2004

TORONTO, November 17, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A Toronto District School Board elementary school, hosting mandatory same-sex sensitivity training for its schoolchildren, is not allowing any exemptions -- even for Muslim children whose parents object to the content of the instruction.

The videos and discussion, called "anti-homophobia education" by the board, are aimed at children, to purportedly eliminate the bullying of children living in families with same-sex parents.

At a meeting attended by 150 parents Tuesday, school board officials said there would be no allowance for parents with children at Market Lane Public School to excuse their kids from the classes. To allow some children to be excused from the classes would be discriminatory against children of same-sex couples, board officials argued. As many as 10 to 15 percent of children attending the school are Muslim.

School board official Patricia Hayes claimed, "religious beliefs do not trump human rights," according to a Toronto Star report.

"They showed a gay lifestyle to the kids without the knowledge of the parents," father of three, Mohamed Yassin said. "They're willing to help gay students with support. Gay people have their rights. I have my rights."

David Crichton, Market Lane principal, said same-sex lifestyles may be portrayed in any grade level, from kindergarten, in stories depicting children with two mothers, for example, rather than a mother and father. Exempting some children from the same-sex sensitivity training "sends a clear message to the students in my school that may have same-sex parents," he claimed.

"They are trying to make it a Muslim issue, but a Christian or Jew would feel the same," Omer Amir, a parent of a 5-year-old at the school, said. "Would they allow me to teach my religion at school? No they would not."

Religious beliefs **are** a human right, you evil cretin.

Requiring people to pretend that a mental disorder is health, on the other hand, is not.

One of the liberal arguments against public aid to private schools (in any form whatsoever, including non-intrusive tax credits) is, "My tax dollars shouldn't be used to promote beliefs that I disagree with." Of course, this argument goes right out the window when public schools impose sex education curricula offensive to Christian or Muslim parents.

Excellent point. I agree. It occured to me the other day, when mulling the meaning of the word "homophobe", that the real homophobes are those people afraid of offending homosexuals (please don't use the word "gay"; they aren't gay, they're usually mad as hell). The fear is a fear of aquiring an un-PC label, the fear of being ostracized by your peer group because of that label, and the perceived loss of status and authority because of that label. It occured to me that most liberals are the real homophobes, because they let their fear of drawing the wrath of homosexual activists cow them into first silence, then tolerance of homosexual "lifestyles" (death styles is more like it considering the average homosexual male's life span).

Their homophobia is from a social status perspective, not moral, but fear is fear. That's why we characterize the odd university professor as "couragous" if he takes a stand against mainstreaming homesuals, or any other un-PC position.

Conservatism now represents intellectual freedom, and liberalism the stifling dogma. I, for one, will do what I can to send liberals to the poundma.

A beheading or two done by the followers of the Religion of Peace and that will change.

Homosexual "training" for 5 year old children??? Sounds to most people, religious or not, like coercive indoctrination.

New meat for the gay mafia, especially their NAMBLA subsidiary, to feast upon.

Back when the word "homophobia" was created didn't it just refer to someone who got really nervous and broke into cold sweats when they were in the same room as an openly gay person?

Also shouldn't HOMOphobia just mean the fear of something similar?? Doesn't the word HOMO mean SAME? though I am hardly a language expert

"religious beliefs do not trump human rights,"

Eventually the only 'human right' that some people will have will be to choose to lay down their life for refusing to deny Jesus Christ.
