Palestinian Islamic Jihad sites shut down by Pentagon? No.
The story (AP, via Haaretz):
The militant Palestinian group Islamic Jihad said Tuesday the Pentagon had blocked its four Web sites because they contained news and pictures supporting the Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation.
In a statement faxed to The Associated Press, Islamic Jihad said the Ukrainian company that hosted the sites had come under "U.S. pressure" to stop them.
"The company has sent a letter apologizing for not being able to host these Web sites because they contained news and pictures supporting the Palestinian resistance at a direct request from the Pentagon," the statement said, referring to the U.S. Defense Department.
It did not name the Ukrainian company.
Saying the U.S. move was "aimed at silencing a Palestinian resisting voice," the statement said Islamic Jihad will continue its efforts "to reveal the truth" of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Why neither AP nor Haaretz bothered to fact check this press release before running the story is anyone's guess.
The reality is that most of PIJ's sites were hosted in the United States until September when they were removed as a result of 'Al Haganah' type activity, and they haven't been seen since.
One PIJ site, jamaaway.org, is still active and online in the United States:
jamaaway.org
ID: 235
Status: active
URL: http://www.jamaaway.org/
IP: 63.208.120.199
Datacenter: Co-Location.com Inc., a Level3.Net customer with offices in Beverly Hills, California, USA
(If someone could do me a favor and contact Co-Location.com I'd appreciate it. I'm currently, um, out of the office in a big way).
The PIJ's qudsway.com/.net/.org site is still online in Iran.
I'm not aware of/don't recall any connection between the PIJ and any company or datacenter in Ukraine.
I can only assume that Palestinian Islamic Jihad cooked up this story because Hamas is getting good publicity with their "Al Hagana is attacking us" story and PIJ wanted to do them one better.

They're still talking about 160 dead though. Let's hope they're way off.
I've heard the Santa is cleared to fly Friday night. Very good news.
Merry Christmas folks!!
Thanks for posting this update.
Christmas blessings to you AD.
"A very welcome snow here tonight in the Black Hills. It is so beautiful."
You are so lucky! I have been really hoping for a white Christmas after our Monday dusting but it looks like rain here in south Jersey. Oh well (sigh!)
I had FNC on all day and nothing was said about trouble on a Nevada flight.
If you get a chance, could you post the exact url that specific message you translated? I would appreciate that penguino. Thank you.
No,RR is lucky! We only get snow once every 100 years or so. If it isn't raining, its foggy/smoggy. :-(
This whole report is sick along with the people who wrote it.
Rummy should send 50,000 troops over to Mosul to go house to house and rid the place of these vermin and then continue on to every city until they all crawl back to their spider holes in Syria, Iran and wherever.
I just hope that this is the only attack this Christmas.
"The smallest full moon of 2004" is a cute story in the middle of all the tragic news today! It is all so sad but life does go on, remember, JP. hugs.
I would like to discount the entire german guy dialog as goofball conspiracy theory but for the fact that some guys from Israel were picked up near some major facility (was it Oakridge?) over the past year or so and there is the possibility that it is a clouds enterprise propaganda piece to shift our focus or blur our focus from something else that is imminent...or that (really, really stretching here) some other spy agency just might be up to some hijinks, trying to prompt the US.
