The Threat Matrix
The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.
"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."
We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research. |

"We should have secured the Mexican border." That could be the pitiful lament we hear from negligent U.S. officials if Al Qaeda pulls off an attack on the United States using weapons of mass destruction smuggled across our southern frontier. Were that horrendous event to happen, leaders in the administration and Congress would be justly hit with the same question that was perhaps unjustly cast at them and their predecessors after the unprecedented Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks: Why didn't they connect the dots? |

Well, ExS, I agree. I'm afraid the psychological damage could be severe as the majority of the sheeple don't have much of a clue. Consequently the potential for temporary economic damage would be high.

Were there 2 different captures of al Qaeda members?
I read the Japan today link that you posted above.
(For some reason, I can't open the link again)
To: JellyJam
Thanks for the link.
We all talked about the possibility of LNG tanker attacks a few months back.
'Bout time the MSM caught up. ;-)

I conducted Google searches for each of the items on which you requested updates and came up with only a couple of items:
15 Badges recovered
Militants wire web with links to jihad
Both links essentially telling us nothing new and basically no new information on stolen crop dusters, sabotaged air ambulances, missing uniforms, badges, official SUVs, weapons, tractor trailers, training trailers, oil trucks, and massive quantities of propane tanks from Columbus, Denver and Laredo. These incidents have fallen into the same "on to the next news story" hole as the other zillion such incidents in the past 12 months. Each of them "cold cases" that could become very HOT in a heartbeat.

Hi Vel! From the way the story reads, it says TWO separate sweeps were made. The BBC report says the amateur disappearing act Zawahiri was not captured......but the Japanese say "important arrests" have been made. Here's the Japanese version again:

Terrorists likely to be in New Zealand: SIS report
www.chinaview.cn 2004-12-21 09:43:03
WELLINGTON, Dec. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Islamic extremists with links to international terrorist organizations are likely to be operating in New Zealand, NZ Security Intelligence Service (SIS) says.
In an annual report to Parliament published Tuesday, the SIS has revealed publicly for the first time that it suspects terrorists or terrorist sympathizers are operating in New Zealand.
SIS Director Richard Woods said in the report that the international successes in targeting al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden had raised the security threat level for New Zealand.
"From the service's own investigations we assess that there are individuals in or from New Zealand who support Islamic extremist causes.

Instead of Guantanamo, AQ prisoners should be kept in Alaska at a frigid outpost.....Ever experienced an Afghan winter?
Well, neither have I, but I have it on expert authority, that it's unbelievably COLD.... Remember, too, that many muslim dominated countries have frigid winters....

Bush guesses Bin Laden hiding along Pakistan border
21 December 2004
Washington: President George W Bush, who faced election-year criticism for not capturing Osama bin Laden, said overnight his best guess was that the al Qaeda leader remained at large somewhere along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
