Poll Question:
In the DISTANT FUTURE if an anti-USA alliance of China, EU, and Russia emerges, and relations explode into a WW3- do you think USA could defeat this alliance? (This is assuming that in the 'distant future' the EU has a combined military--which is VERY likely to happen).

We would have Israel and Taiwan and Australia on our side, but what about Latin America?
Russia will have to decide, be a bride for China or go with the US. Going to be interesting for the Russians.
Ah, you started down the right path but did not finish the thought - IMHO.
My answer would be, all depends on who has been in charge of this country for the build up and who is in charge at the time when the ballon goes up.
If the 'slackers' get in charge, we are toast.
If the adults remain in charge, our military should be a healthy (techno, quantity wise) organization, able to deal with at least two fronts.
..how much force we are allowed to use?
Allowed?
By whom?
I refer to my above comments.

The movie was just on USA network a while ago. That was good because I hadn't seen it for a while.
But the US was caught completely off guard. I didn't really care about the whole dumb story line about teenagers, Emilio Esteves, Charlie Sheen, and Patrick Swayze taking on some troops in a way just as worthless as those terrorists in Iraq. But the broader storyline was more interesting.
Red Dawn was one of my child hood favs. This thread reminded me of it lol.
"Was that just a cold-war propaganda thing?"
Yes it was. We could have taken the Soviets no problem. Plus, most info. about nuclear war not being survivable is pure bs IMO.
Figured as much.... Gotta love the hype! LOL
How about Major Matt Mason (action figure astronaut). I doubt if many remember that fine 1960s childhood toy.
"We would have Israel and Taiwan and Australia on our side, but what about Latin America?"
Latin America is rapidly being Communized thanks to Russia, Red China and Cuba.
Their side gets the French?
'Nuff said!
lol people in the "red states" would survive a nuke war. The "blue areas" would be craters, and all we would have to deal with is fall-out.
"Any of you remember the old Red Dawn movie?"
I found it hilarious that virtually all the actors in that movie denounced it to appease the Hollywood Pinko-Commie-PC crowd.
I think we would have to pry one of them away from the alliance, and that would be Russia. They have a lot to lose if they find themselves in the not too distant future caught between an increasingly Islamist, nuclear-armed EU and a hugely industrialized, resource-hungry China.
The Russians need to maintain good relations with a militarily strong United States. Destroying us in a nuclear sneak attack at the behest of temporary friends like the EU and China would only hasten their own demise at the hands of their historical enemies.
"lol people in the "red states" would survive a nuke war. The "blue areas" would be craters, and all we would have to deal with is fall-out."
Double lol from me! Very, very (fill in the blank) thought!!!
I don't think Patrick Swayze is a big-time commie. Recently I saw him refer to "Hollyweird."
This situation will never happen. What a stupid poll! There is no guarantee the EU will remain intact as it is, or that France, Germany for instance, will not soon sack the leftwing Chirac and Schroeder soon. There are just too many dynamics involved. Russia is unlikely to break with us, so long as they too are threatened by terrorists. Russia and China are even less likely to form an alliance, in my view. China will remain an opponent of ours, but also grow as a trading partner. What about North Korea, Iran, India and Pakistan. There are too many variables, to make such an over-simplistic prediction like that. Think.
I don't think it would happen either. It's a very juicy hypothetical though :)
See post #9.
This super hero stuff was settled a long time ago:
Vern: You think Mighty Mouse could beat up Superman?
Teddy: What are you, cracked?
Vern: No, I saw him on TV the other day, he was holding five elephants in one hand.
Teddy: Boy, you don't know nothing. Mighty Mouse is a cartoon. Superman's a real guy. There's no way a cartoon could beat up a real guy.
Vern: I guess you're right. It'd be a good fight though.
That's from the 1986 film "Stand By Me".
As for the U.S. fighting the unholy trinity, today we would win; distant future, anyone's guess. I must add that China and India have a huge advantage for ground warfare due to the available warm bodies. And all wars eventually come down to ground war. (Today, our overwhelming nuclear capabilities would probably level the playing field though.)
