Ohio finds possible double votes, counts

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Election officials in one Ohio county found that about 2,600 ballots were double-counted, and two other counties have discovered possible cases of people voting twice in the presidential election.
Prosecutors were trying to determine Wednesday whether charges should be filed against a couple in Madison County accused of voting twice. In addition, Summit County election workers investigated possible double votes found under 18 names.
In the other case, Sandusky County election officials discovered that about 2,600 ballots from nine precincts were counted twice, likely because of worker error, elections director Barb Tuckerman said.
Tuckerman believes the votes were counted twice when they were mistakenly placed alongside a pile of uncounted ballots. The room where the ballots were being fed into optical-scan machines on election night was so crowded that ballots had to be placed on the floor, Tuckerman said.
"It was totally hectic," she said.
The problem was discovered when Tuckerman found that one precinct showed 131 percent of registered voters had cast ballots.
President Bush won the election by taking Ohio with 136,000 votes more than Democrat John Kerry, according to the unofficial tally.
The couple who voted twice in Madison County cast absentee ballots in October, then voted in person on Election Day, county elections director Gloria Herrel said. The couple said election workers told them their absentee votes were lost, prosecutor Steve Pronai said.
In Summit county, typically the votes were made by absentee ballot or in person, and then a second vote was cast with a provisional ballot in another precinct, elections director Bryan Williams said.
Under Ohio law, people who vote twice could be charged with election fraud, falsification or illegal voting, according the Secretary of State's Office. The maximum penalty for the most severe charge is 18 months in prison.
Double votes could have affected the result of a local schools income tax request that failed by one vote in Madison County.
My guess these folks were Kerry voters
It's very interesting that no indication is given as to who the double-counting and double-voting favored. I take that as strong, but not necessarily ironclad, circumstantial evidence that it favored Kerry.
Question. The couple in Madison County, democrats?
Guess?
Heck, I'll just call the local sport's books and see what the odds are!
Probably a bet I would stay away from.

I don't know if a double count would favor anyone in particular, unless the set of ballots being c ounted twice disproportionately favored one candidate over another.
if they dont mention their party it's 100% sure the MSM is hiding the fact that these are democrats.
It doesn't matter to me, anyone deliberately voting twice should be jailed, unless of course they voted for both candidates.
I concur with everyone else. Must be Rats. We all know, regarding pubbies, if you (OM) can't say something bad about them, them don't say anything at all!
The closer they look at any voting irregularities in Ohio, the more they're likely to find prime examples of Democrat vote fraud.
Let's just forget about it since we already won the election.

Well, a good rule of Old Media thumb is that if it were Republicans doing something shady, a big fat "R" always follows the name for all the world to see. When a political affiliation is absent from a do-badder, it's almost a sure thing that do-badder deserves a "D" after his or her name...
Instead of the terms "Mainstream Media" or "Old Media", maybe we should start referring to them by a more accurate term: "Obsolete Media".
Given that they didn't specify who they voted for, I'd say they voted for Kerry.
I don't agree with that. Those people voting twice should be prosecuted. This is a serious offense that compromises the integrity of our electoral process. These people need to be made examples of.
BTW, if they were Bush voters, you can be sure that this would be noted by MSM in an effort to discredit Bush's re-election. Obviously these were Kerry voters.
Book them!
Exactly. It will make it just a wee bit harder to get people to sign off on traceable crooked ballots in the future if it is demonstrated to be a prosecutiable offense.
Silly you! Of course WE have forgotten about it. it's the RATS that are still hanging onto 2000. But nothing says we can't have a few yuks at their expense. :).
Sandusky county unofficial returns showed Bush winning with 17,824 votes to Kerry's 13,909.
Madison county is a very Republican county. Bush won 10plus thousand to Kerrys 6 plust thousand.
This was the most honest election Ohio as seen in my lifetime.
Just wait if they get to Cuyahoga County (Cleveland)-- that is the home of the RAT fraud in Ohio and where votes have been bought going back to Kennedy/Nixon where the Dems came into the State to tell them how to win it for Kennedy through fraud.
