This is a LIVE THREAD for discussion of the impending certification of final results in the Washington State Governor's race, between Dino Rossi (R) and Christine Gregoire (D).
The Secretary of State is required to certify the final results this evening. As of 4:28 P.M. PST, Gregoire leads by 29 votes with 2521 votes from 4 or 5 counties left to be reported. King County (the Dem's stronghold) has apparently made its final report.
Washington State law requires a machine recount if the certified results show a difference of less than 2000, which now seems almost certain. It also requires a manual recount if the difference is less than 150 votes. A machine recount is estimated to take a week, a hand recount a month or more.
If the final result were a tie, the winner would be decided by lot.
Sigh....Sometimes I sure feel like it! Living in the burbs it's a little better than in downtown Seattle. Especially where I live (Issaquah) - -Rossi was our State Senator, so more support up here for him than in Downtown Liberal Land.
Perfect Justice would be a Rossi win of 537 Votes after the recount LOL!
They also were doing it in King County, Scott, after a judge said it was legal for the rats to do it. The real issue is that in a different county, it was NOT allowed, so that brings up as I said a "Florida-style" Equal Protection case...
I know what the issue was. But once the judge had issued his ruling, the Republicans should have gotten those names and hit the pavement, even as they appealed the order.
Actually, that's just where I am right now. My butt is in my office chair, but I just let it do its own thing.
Where are you finding the GH rewult?....my Sec of state site doesn't have GH reporting yet
LIKE someone else here.......WHAT IS THE PROBLEM....5PM was the DEADLINE, I thought.....
I was thinking they do. My pet peeve is that all states don't require ID for registrations AND for voting.
remember that while benton is listing 750 and grays harbor 1221, earlier in the evening Whitman and Franklin listed 250 each. But the real numbers were 432 in Whitman and 367 in Franklin. The percentages didn't change much and neither did the numbers. We'd have to see some pretty drastic !@#$ here to sway this in Gregoire's favor.
If they were unregistered, they wouldn't have received a ballot in the first place so no, that isn't the case.
The GH site just updated. so i compared their numbers from yesterday to today. it was more than the 1,221 estimated ballots they had left. it was almost 2,000 ballots.
but it nets 87 for gregoire so not counting benton rossi will be ahead by 5 votes!
Gray Habor: 1221 Outstanding
Current % Vote:
Christine Gregoire 49.30%
Dino Rossi 48.66%
Benton County: 750 Outstanding
Christine Gregoire 30.14%
Dino Rossi 68.17%
Gets Rossi by 369 End Count
Libertarian 1100 1.68
Well, from your post, AND your screen name.....I'm with YOU!!!!
Did you say that you were on the dark side of the 'goon and were swamped? Yes, it seems so.
How many is Gregoire up?
Even when my vote is counted, it's still outstanding.
DUH....just saw how mUCH Gregoires is Up....
Just flashed on Komo...Dino up by 92.
He was talking about the provisional and absentee ballots that have already been cast in those counties. He gave the impression that he expects the remaining outstanding ballots to be consistant with those numbers.
