I have actually seem the MSM refer to Fidel Castro as Dr. Castro.
Yes it is. Under our constitution you can hate anyone you want, I hate Rats and I am quite vocal about it, speech that leads directly to riot and revolution, overt act, is not protected.
"OH? Try leaving the title of professor off a professor's name and you'll be looking for a new job."
Oh, really? I'm a writer and editor for a university publications department and I've been leaving the "Dr." off for years now. Haven't been fired yet. That's the university style and I have yet to have the first professor complain. When I talk to a professor I've met I always use "Dr." verbally first, but most quickly ask me to use their first name.
"Dr. Rice is NOT employed at a university, and therefor her title becomes important to indicate her education."
The people who count are quite aware of her education. Besides, it's not the degree that matters. It's what you say and do. I know quite a number of idiots here who have a Ph.D.
I think that one certainly wins this dubious honor!
Yep. They also did the same thing to Colin Powell during the GHW Bush administration. However those who pushed the cult of political correctness upon us try to excuse the term "Uncle Tom" and "Aunt Tom" (they're clling Condi that) it is nothing more than racism. It's divisive. It's everything the PC people claim to hate about us, the people who DON'T think or talk like this.
I am sure that her appointment serves several purposes.
1. Will do an outstanding job
2. Drives the Left wacky
3. Increased level of exposure for future endeavors
They're sick, huh!!!
P.S.--I AM talking about the cartoonists!!!
Implying she's only gotten where she has by sleeping her way there IS sexist, however. Calling her "brown sugar" and casting her in the role of a slave is racist.
Where did Dr Martin Luthor King, who's title IS published by the mass media, get his medical degree?
It occured to me yesterday that by proposing Dr. Rice for Sec'y of State (a position I thought she should be in during the first term), Bush is giving her a fine resume to run for president. Chancellor at Stanford, foreign policy expert, National Security Advisor, Secretary of State, great communicator, and, for the Politically Correct, black and female. What if she was the Republican nominee for President in 2008 against Hillary?
...not that she would necessarily want the top spot. My take on it is that she is operating within her area of specialty, and loving it. I think she is so accomplished and bright that she could be a great president if she wanted the politics that went with it.
I believe she is CFR, so I'm not sure she doesn't lean toward the globalism of Bush '41 and the "hemisphereism" of Bush '43. If she ran for president, she should have to articulate her position on U.S. sovereignty. As a specialist, she has to reflect the Administration position.
We'll test that under all those new hate crime laws passed by the left. You write a nasty, hateful rant about Democrats to the editor of a major publication. Make sure to insult both race and gender for the women. Let me know the result.
"You're right, but that doesn't totally explain why Colin Powell did not elicit this hysterical reaction from the left."
See post 78. Powell, Sowell, Thomas, have all been attacked by these idiots.
Man, they really are gonna blow a gasket when we nominate her to run for Prez against sHillary in '08! I can't wait!!
I don't know if that's going to happen, but it sure would be fun to watch.
Count me in, but I haven't been able to find her .gov email address. It probably exists in the encrypted, classified section of the Government's email system.
However, cards are always good.
I expected this to happen to Dr. Rice. She is a threat to everything that Hillary wishes for, and most attacks on her will come from within the black community.
Forget Oliphant. He's been characterizing Rice as a talking parrot for almost a year now. It's liberal shorthand for "our enemies are idiots" instead of grappling with the fact that there is a real war out there against real, psychotic opponents and that President Bush and Dr. Rice might just have a realistic appraisal of our opponents. He's not important.
It will be important for the lib media to marginalize her in order to prevent any possibility of her ascending to the Vice Presidency or, perhaps, to the Presidency in 2008. The attacks on her will come from one of two angles:
1. that she has had an ongoing sexual relationship with President Bush. This is a huge crock; witness Condi's closeness to Laura. Laura is no dummie. If there was an affair going on, the first lady's relations with Rice would be frosty, at best.
2. the lesbian angle. This one has possibilities, save for the fact that she's had an ongoing "boyfriend" relationship with Gene Washington. Previously, in the late eighties or early nineties, she was engaged to a member of the Denver Broncos, who stupidly broke the engagement. I would not be surprised to find out if she had a relationship with a woman at one time, but I don't think she leans towards being a lesbian. Personally, I wouldn't care, but the Compassionate Left would.
Gwen Ifill? Ewwwwwwwww........
Anyhoo, the attacks on Rice will come from the black community primarily and from people at Stanford (she's made enemies there during the period in which she cracked the whip). The Dems will let this go on. For their part, they will try to dig up poor old Richard Clarke and Puddin'head Joe Wilson one more time for the 16 words for which there never should have been an apology.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
"Implying she's only gotten where she has by sleeping her way there IS sexist, however. Calling her "brown sugar" and casting her in the role of a slave is racist.."
I agree. Did you see me defending this? But not using "Dr." is not racist.
"Where did Dr Martin Luthor King, who's title IS published by the mass media, get his medical degree?"
I have absolutely no idea. I've written stories in the past with his name and I've never used "Dr." and I don't think you'll generally see it in news stories (distinct from commentary or even feature magazine articles, which go by other rules).
And like it or not, Rice has a loooong way to go before she has the same place in history that King has.
Just when you think the left MSM can't sink any lower, they do! The left has now burned their black support judging by the anger blacks are expressing today. We should applaud the left for "comming out of the closet"
and showing the public their true beliefs.
Yesterday I commented that I didn't think Condi would be able to win the presidency in the next election, but that would depend on how well she does her job, and if something big happened. Well, I think something big just happened! I bet there will be more to come.
Where is the NAACP now? This is the big awakening that the lefts soft support, especially from the black community, needs to shake them from any remaining dillusion that the left supports and speaks for them.
Watch how MSM shuts up and tries to bury this one.
La Voz de Aztlan posted a nasty animated photo a while back, entitled Congoleezza Rice explaining her ideas, which mimicked monkey sounds, big moving lips with a bone through the nose...Pathetic, for a radical Latino website that sees racism on every street corner in America.
Great caller on Rush right now. To that caller: Yes, Sir, we ARE very proud of Condi, regardless of race and gender. We're proud of her because she's a great American. Bless you, Sir, for seeing it.
"Where did Dr Martin Luthor King, who's title IS published by the mass media, get his medical degree?"
Dr. is just a title given to people that have completed a doctorate in any field, doesn't have to be medicine. For example, Dr. Albert Einstien, Dr. Jerry Falwell, Dr. Stephen Hawking, Dr. Doom, well, you get the idea.
What docterate does "Dr.Drey" have?
As for defending the bahavior of the left, I wasn't sure if you were or not, which is why I thanked you for the clarification. I didn't compare Rice to King. His name was simply the first that fit the bill to pop into my head.
