BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Reuters) - An explosion at a branch of Citibank in Buenos Aires on Wednesday killed one security guard, police said. "There were two artifacts -- just one exploded. The second one must have been detonated by the fire squad," Police Chief Francisco Santos Miglino told reporters at the scene, adding that the security guard at the bank had died.
An explosion also hit a branch of Argentine bank Banco Galicia in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, but no injuries were immediately reported.
PING......
FNC is reporting that two banks were hit by explosions
3 banks now.
3????
2 Citibank and one local Argentine bank I think.
Thanks ..
FNC is just now reporting on the 3 bank
the terrorist network in argentina and in chile has been *VERY* quiet for the past five, maybe even the past 10 years, and is now starting to stir.
chavez is funding and refurbishing the old network. expect more of this...
Probably someone that's as tired as I am of their stupid commercials......
See thread "31 Dead In Fuel Tanker Explosion-Brazilian Port Paranagua-News Black-Out?" at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1281017/posts
Absolutely. By coincidence, on another thread we were just discussing the hope that Rice, as SOS, will pay more attention to Latin America than Powell did. I think the US under Powell has taken a benign neglect policy towards Latin America, and this was all it took to let Chavez' power grow.
Just saw this--I'm in Buenos Aires right now and didn't even know about it until I saw this!
Doesn't say where it is exactly...I know of several citibanks nearby, I usally go there for cash... a couple on Avenida de Santa Fe and in Recoleta.
As I have nothing to do right now, I'm going to go find out more and bring my camera...
If the CIA were a serious outfit rather than a mutual admiration society and talkshop Chavez would have been room temperature a while ago.
Just saw pictures on Buenos Aires TV--this wasn't a big explosion. Not much visible damage except some splintered wood and broken glass.
Fox news is now saying 5 banks were hit.

Terrorism as a political tool must be stomped on by all civilized nations' governments or we will slip back into the age of walled cities and communities - the Dark Ages. I have always included these terrorists in South America or Africa whenever I have spoken at length to people about AlQ and the Islamist terrorist threat. If any of them are allowed to dictate to established governments by using terrorist activities to gain influence, eventually even groups like "Right to Life" and "Amnesty International" and "Democrat Party" will start to question whether they ought to use similar tactics.
Terrorism is very dangerous to civilization - and in fact, may be the ultimate danger.
