Fritz Hollings, Getting a Last Word in Edgewise • In his farewell speech to the Senate yesterday, Fritz Hollings, who has served there since 1966, noted two big changes over the decades: fewer boozers and more yakking women. "We had five drunks or six drunks when I got here," the South Carolina Democrat told his colleagues. "There are no drunks in the United States Senate now. We don't have the time." He also noted that upon his arrival there was only one female senator, Margaret Chase Smith (R-Maine), and she didn't say much. "We got 16 or 17 now and you can't shut 'em up. . . . You get in a debate with Barbara Mikulski or Barbara Boxer and they'll take your head off."

I have theorized that there is a inverse correlation between the use of the brain, and the mouth.

Teddy Kennedy's limousine is required to be placarded for ethanol (ethyl alcohol, booze), because the alcohol vapors constitute a fire and explosion hazard.

Instead of the booze comments, I found his comments on women to be the most shocking in this day and age: a member of the "party of tolerance"* bashing women for yakking! You'd think that the "party of tolerance" would be "smarter" than to say to the world that you can't shut up these yakky women!

*"Party of tolerance" will be marked in the future by "sneer quotes", similar to the phrase "religion of peace" in sneer quotes meaning those who practice jihad, beheadings, and terrorism in the name of Islam.

"Sneer quotes" - there's a useful expression I'd never heard before.

But then, we're not exactly on the cutting edge of societal evolution here in North Texas.
(But we do know all about horses...)

Alright, so I'm not the best when it comes to counting things.

However, my point is a valid one.

Chafee was gacking up big time when he was a college student. He admitted as much when he decided to run for the U.S. Senate seat once held by his late father.

I'm sure that people in Rhode Island could provide some edification on this matter.

Dere's too much comsumin' goin' on!

Good to be rid of this old fool. There aren't 16 female senators either. There are only 13. And can you imagine the outrage that would follow if some conservative made a sexist statement the way he did?

Imagine what the outcry would have been from NOW and the other feminazis if Hollings had been a Republican and said all that. You would have never heard the end of it in the mainstream media. See you around, Fritz. Don't let the door hit your behind on the way out!!!

Hollings was actually right about the 'Rat women. Hillary, Boxer, Murray, Landrieu, and some of the others can yak for hours and never say a damn thing worthwhile. Of course, that's also true of Kennedy, Harkin, Durbin, and a lot of the 'Rat men, too.
