BAGHDAD, Nov. 16 -- U.S. and Iraqi troops entered Mosul in force Tuesday to retake streets and police stations seized by fighters in the northern city last week, while a prominent Iraqi insurgent claimed that the battle in Fallujah was only the beginning of an uprising that has already roiled parts of Iraq (news - web sites) dominated by Sunni Muslims.

The Iraqi government announced the capture of another insurgent leader, Moyad Ahmed Yaseen. Yaseen was military leader of the First Mohammed Army, the largest militia in Fallujah, which claimed a membership of 6,000 mostly Iraqi volunteers.

Janabi mocked the statement of a senior Iraqi official who on Saturday told reporters that Janabi and another insurgent leader, Omar Hadid, were "cowards" who had fled the city before the offensive. "I am here," Janabi said. "You can see me. And if you wait for a while, you can see Omar Hadid. He is still in the city." Janabi took the bait.

Lt. Col. Paul Hastings, a spokesman for U.S. forces in Mosul. If he has an underling named Janofsky N. Walker, that would be real freaky.

Yeah, the Marines have taken Fallujah, but there will still be pockets of tertrorists. They have the advantage of hiding behind the skirts of the general populace. They are accomplished skirt-hiders, in fact. The headline, though, is a bit misleading. It may as well say "Criminals Still In New York City!".
I do love the silly propaganda claims, though. "The Americans have whooped our butts from here to kingdom come! If they are not careful, we'll show them in many other cities exactly how our brigades can slink out of our "strongholds" with our tails between our legs! This will be the chaotic running away to end all chaotic running aways! The mother of all running aways!"
On a serious note, though, they do seem to watch CNN and know how to play the propaganda war here at home. Whenever we launch an offensive in any city, the trick is to send a few "martyrs" out to die in other cities, so the MSM folks can start wailing about the total breakdown in Iraq and how we don't have enough troops on the ground, etc. Brokaw, Jennings, Matthews, Olbermann... they may as well be on the payroll of the terrorist cells, since they are such perfect, easily influenced tools for them.

Iraqi special forces hold an arrested suspect, identified by the Iraqi government as a senior insurgent leader Mo'ayed Ahmed Yassin otherwise known as Abu Ahmed, in Falluja in an undated photograph provided by Prime Minister Iyad Allawi's office November 15, 2004. The prime minister's office said that the man was a senior commander of the armed insurgency group Mohammed's Army

The clashes that have erupted north and west of Baghdad since last week constitute the most intense fighting since the insurgency began in earnest six months ago.
So where is earnest located?
Time to kick ass and take names!
