(WICKED) THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Thrift is a wonderful virtue --
in an ancestor.

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

1869 The Suez Canal opened; known as "the ditch" to U.S. Armed Forces, the 101-mile waterway provides passage from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

1913 The Panama Canal opened (unofficially); the 51-mile waterway cuts through the isthmus of Panama, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. President Teddy Roosevelt played a central role in making the canal a reality, for he recognized the significant economic and military advantage that the Atlantic-Pacific passage would provide the U.S.; the American Society of Civil Engineers declared the canal one of the modern "seven wonders of the world."

Ma.....I've hired these girls to give you a official send-off. I know that you are going from Alaska to Calyfornea but it sends the right message, don't you think?

Good Morning Beachy ~

We took a cruise a few years on the Princess Line and when we got to Juneau we flew to the Mendenhall Glacier on a helicopter ~ whata chunk of ice ~ we also took the White Pass Scenic Railway trip from Skagway, plus some other neat off ship stuff. :)

The personnel were thoughtful and considerate and the service was superb ~ take an Alaskan Cruise, they're the best ~ it's something that you'll never forget!

More Florida poling problems: Fortunately no one was riding shotgun when this SUV smashed into a 100-foot-long metal utility pole carried by a tractor-trailer in Springfield, Fla. Witnesses said the rig was preparing to turn when the GMC passed escort vehicles and plowed into the pole.

Thanks Blackie. Everyone I have heard who have gone on an Alaskan Cruise have said the same thing. They all love it. It is something both my husband and myself want to do.
