Future use will be a hypersonic cruise missile and by 2025 a hypersonic cruise vehicle (Bomber). Awesome technology!

Are they going to have live speed estimates, or will it be a 'Well, that looked ok' type response and wait for the scientists to decide how fast it went?

Not sure regarding live speed info, but I suspect so.

They have a real-time image visualization using data from the X-43A. As long as they have that data they will display MACH.
