Was not the reporter under the duty to hand over this tape to military authorities, under the rules of imbeds? If that's the case then strong measures should be taken against Sites. Also has Sites been removed from that Marine unit, because at this point i"m sure his presence is a distraction to the Marines and therefore endangers their lives. Sites has to be removed from that unit at the very least.
I' m pretty new also, and welcome to FR
It is the MSM and their abetment of the knee-jerk, anti-McCarthyite intellectuals of the 1950s and 1960s that has landed us in the media mess we have today. Without the meddling from the MSM, the United States would have roundly defeated the communist 'insurgents' in Vietnam and the generation of baby-boomer naysayers would have been relegated to the back of the bus where they belong. Instead, we have been forced to listen for the last forty years as the MSM has successfully stifled all but a few conservative voices.
Fortunately, God in His mercy has chosen this time in history to provide an apparently righteous man to guide our nation. By W's leadership I believe we can see this war through to a victorious end in spite of attempts by weak minded elements on the Right and the tireless harpies on the Left.
How would you enforce this? Please give a detailed explanation of your concept of operations, and how it would pass Constitutional scrutiny.
The reporter OTH presented his film with what appears to be an attempt to get the marine in trouble and cast aspersions on our troops.
You seem eager to join him, but, at least as far as I've read so far, you can't quite find anything actually wrong with what the marine DID.
You have had to try to disparage him by making him blameworthy just because some freepers would like to see the propagandist reporter pay for the reporter's attempted assault on the Marine, on the Marines, and on the USA.
It's pretty obvious you're looking for some excuse to jump on this Marine who performed exactly as he should have.
Why is that? Why do you want find this young man guilty of something when you damn well know better?
If you're upset by the understandable rage of some posters, why do you feel required to stick that on the Marine?
Well said.
Thank you.
Then why are so many on FR enraged to the point of calling for the reporter's murder?

Guess what?
Having finally had a a chance to see the video, I think the Marine was in the right.
Righteous deeds need not fear being shown.
But here are a bunch of yahoos on Free Republic calling for the reporter to be murdered.
Now, if this is a righteous shooting, why are so many FReepers calling for this reporter to be killed for showing it? Or do they really think that this WAS NOT a righteous shooting?
What the hell am I supposed to make of demands for maiming and murder?

Either the deed is righteous, or it is evil.
Righteousness does not hide; evil does.
I don't think this should be hidden. I think that every Mohammed, Abu, Achmed, and whatever other names they use should be required to watch this video, so that they understand what the end of the line is for a jihadi: getting his head blown off by a Marine. (BTW, we need to tell 'em that the bullets are dipped in rancid bacon grease.)
It's pretty obvious you're looking for some excuse to jump on this Marine who performed exactly as he should have.
No, I'm not. I was wondering (that was before I had a chance to view the tape) if perhaps some FReepers were bearing some sort of guilt.
Why is that? Why do you want find this young man guilty of something when you damn well know better?
Why are som many FReepers acting as if he IS guilty, and that his deeds MUST not be seen?
If you're upset by the understandable rage of some posters, why do you feel required to stick that on the Marine?
I'm not. Why are so many FReepers feel required to demand the murder of the reporter for showing that wars aren't a Nintendo game? What the hell is this place, al-Freepazeera?
Now, if this is a righteous shooting, why are so many FReepers calling for this reporter to be killed for showing it? Or do they really think that this WAS NOT a righteous shooting?
Gimmee a break, Poobah. You know how this film is being mis-used by the Old Media and you know why. They're trying to say this Marine should be court martialed for a war crime!
I feel the same rage as the rest of the posters against the BS propagandist who is willing to destroy this young Marine to further his own left-wing agenda. It's vital IMO that we all stop these creeps from doing to us what they did to us during Vietnam.
What the hell am I supposed to make of demands for maiming and murder?
Make of them what you will. The Marine didn't call for that.
When you get right down to the bottom line, this kind of reporter and the networks who are picking this up and trying to turn it into something it isn't are trying to undermine our country and I think you know that, too. IMO they are a more dangerous enemy than al Qaeda long term.
No, I'm not calling for us to shoot the guy, but this crap must be stopped. If they realize how much they are hated and despised for what they are doing--how many of us there are who feel that way and how strongly we feel--perhaps they'd think about what they're trying to do and the possible personal consequences of their actions. IOW I hope they read threads like this.
They can say it all they want, it's not going to happen. And the American public isn't as stupid as you think them to be.

And that excuses calls for murdering an American who made them angry?
I am astonished at the people who scream loudly for a war, and then demand that the results of said war not be shown on TV.
Like I said, I want that tape shown ALL OVER the Middle East. The would-be jihadis will get the message: become a jihadi, get done in by Marines.
Access denied.
There's your detail, Poo.
Doesn't stop them from saying anything. It just ensures that whatever they say will not, in any way, reflect US government policy.
At the very best, those news agencies proceed to run material from our enemies' information ministries and news services.
At worst: they simply report that the Pentagon refused to comment on its activities, casualties, or anything else. And they say that day in and day out.
The American public would, eventually, start wondering Just what is the Pentagon so damn afraid of? Are they engaged in questionable or unethical activities? Why are they so hell-bent on covering up their own deeds?
Congratulations: you've just succeeded in completely cutting off the Pentagon from the American public, and thus denied them the support of the American public.
Good! I want that result.
Hey folks, dont blame the messenger. The war is not going well. Wars rarely do.
This war's going about as well as can be expected.
If that is true...then I apologize to the man.
You work up some steam, and then with all your might you knock the straw man to the ground. I love watching the Three Stooges when Curly gets excited and starts running in place, slapping his face over and over. Good stuff.
I just tossed a flash-bang, and you stood there like an idiot and CAUGHT the thing.
You want to systematically isolate the American military from the public whose support it needs, and you think it's a good idea.
God, I can deal with my enemies, it's my "allies" that worry me.
That's right. Pure emotion, no rationality, and edited for maximum desired impact.
Did you just invoke the name of God? And as to your fretting over your allies, never fear, loyal Americans won't abandon you when the fighting starts, no matter how far to the left you've strayed.
Please explain how systematically isolating the US military from the American public is a good idea.
