I'm going to start with a communication of support of this young Marine, to the Commandant of the Marine Corps himself. Then, President Bush and my Senator/Congressman.They are going to hear from me and I have all friggin day to do it. I am so livid about this that words cannot describe. As a former Marine myself, this young "Leather" was doing what he was trained to do, adapting to unreasonable circumstances (enemy tricks) and he did exactly what I would have done and what has always been done with a fanatical enemy. If authorities hang this Marine out to dry, I will never stop raising hell and will become a point man for pulling these guys out of theater entirely...MSM is SICK. Other suggestions?
Thanks for the ping. I signed on today just to see if there was any more information re this travesty. If this Marine is sacrificed to the liberal $hit$ who seem to care more for our enemies than they do about our country I will lose what's left of my mind. We cannot stand by and allow it to happen!
Just sent this smug media jerk a piece of my mind...but I will not feel any better until "embedded" media are no longer allowed in combat.
Thanks, Bro.
I'm no Kerry apologist, but wasn't the VC armed? Did he ever say he shot him in the back himself?
If this insurgent was armed, then that might be an analogous situation, but shouldn't we have disarmed prisoners? I thought this guy who was shot was captured much earlier.
I'm confused. How could the marine claim he thought the guy was armed unless he knew we aren't checking bodies and removing weapons?
I apologize for using the word "disappoint". I understand that you would not be disappointed.
I am intrigued by your reference to age... what is the significance to that? I didn't know my age was known.
- Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman
Scarborough can take this story under his wing. He has access to all the footage and the NBC reporters. We should e-mail him.

Sick and insane. And you should have heard the glee in the NBC radio report..."
It is astonishing that the MSM love to wallow about in self righteous anti American drivel and then in the same breath or paragraph, conclude that we should blame the Bush Administration/Military of 'angering the Arab Street' or that US actions only create more terrorists. IT IS THE MSM WHO STIR UP THE RAGE OF THE ARAB STREET WITH 'STORIES' LIKE ABU GRAIB AND IT IS THEIR 'STORIES' THAT OBL USES AS RECRUTING TOOLS! Now this 'story' will wet their insatiable appetite for making America look like the enemy of the world. It is time for the world and the MSM to be forced to fret over the ANGERING THE AMERICAN STREET! Write those letters to your senators and congressmen today!
Well...let's see...if there is a law against shooting wounded people in combat, then most of our Marines involved in this battle shouldn't be fired on. I am sure they all have cuts and bruises that would warrant them Purple Hearts if they were John Kerry. You weren't there, you don't know what type of weapon this terrorist did or didn't have, don't condemn this Marine without knowing the facts yet. I am still reserving my final opinion on this but from the information being reported, if he is found to be guilty of any wrong doing, he will be sent to the Naval Hospital on Camp Pendleton for combat fatigue.
Just my opinion of course.
There are NO WORDS in the English language to express my disgust with the MSM, and Cable News shows. As far as I am concerned they are outright traitors. As a Christian I am supposed to love my enemy. I found out long ago, that no matter how hard I try, I am not a very good Christian.
Good grief. I most certainly do perceive it. That you would make a leaps and bounds conclusion so error ridden is what is telling.
>By prosecuting a young Marine.....
This Marine is NOT being prosecuted. They are conducting an Article 31 investigation. After that investigation, the Commanding Officer will decide if prosecution is called for.
But then more video shots of the enemy acting unlawfully would be VERY helpful.

Read it and see that I am correct. The Marines agree with me that the embedded program has been more beneficial than not.
I believe we need to support this Marine.
HOwever, I think we need to be careful how we do it so we are most effective.
The USMC will do an investigation. It may or may not end up in a GCM. Given that, what are the real threats? I think they are:
1. The REMFs at USMC HQ may feel that a larger investigation is needed than would normally be necessary in order to satisfy the public relations aspect. We need to call the USMC and let them know our support of this Marine to stop that. (Numer has been posted)
2. The Old Media will hype this well beyond what is appropriate. Their hype undermines any justice that this Marine might receive. There have been some who have posted that they think that this Marine may have acted improperly. I don't, but that is not the issue. We can all agree that he should be treated fairly and that an MSM lynching is not that.
The Old Media have recently lost their two big viewer draws: the election and the Scott Peterson trial. They are looking for something new. A big story.
We need to slam the Old Media and let them and their advertisers know.
The remaining problem is Sites. We have to be carefull about attacking him because his natural defense is: "the camera never lies." We need to be careful not to walk into that trap. A better attack on him should be based on the fact that he turned the tape over to a foreign news service, which sensationalized the story, rather than to the appropriate DoD legal authorities. This was irresponsible behavior.
What I don't understand - and I posted on it days ago - is why terrorist-fighters caught out-of-uniform are not summarily executed anyway?
"I am very familiar with this situation, as it happened to me in 2002."
Welcome to FR and thank you so much for your service! I loved the pictures on your page.
