Jenerette to Challenge Senate Vote Count
Katherine Jenerette, the Republican Candidate for S.C. Senate District 28 seat is demanding a recount and filing an official protest of the race results in Tuesdays election to County and State election officials in her bid to unseat the incumbent Senator Dick Elliot(D).
Jenerette, defeated Elliott in Horry County, which makes up nearly 70% of the Senate district, according to the unofficial election results, but lost the overall election by a slim 1,316 votes out of nearly 30,000 votes cast.
Elliot, the longest serving member of the Horry County delegation, did not even win in his home county with Jenerette winning the totals votes in Horry.
In addition to the recount demand, Jenerette's official protest will include a request of an investigation into the publication two days before the election by the Sun News of a Voter Guide which wrongly identified her as a Democrat and Elliott as a Republican incumbent in the predominately Republican Senate district. Out of all the names listed in the guide, only Jenerette's and Elliott's party affiliation was incorrectly listed. While the newspaper published a small correction box the next day the newspaper encouraged voters to study the incorrect Voter Guide sheet before going to the polls.
In her challenge, Jenerette said that she will include information alleging possible voter fraud in specific precincts and counties. Also, Jenerette charges numerous instances of unethical and illegal misconduct during the course of the Senate campaign.
This is, and should be, a difficult move. We will probably post the Brief later this evening...it exposes in the SUNLIGHT the tactics the Democrats have been using.

I thought Thune did exactly the right thing. Don't get mad, get even. Getting even means winning next time. Each election is an education. Take your lessons and apply them, just like we all do every day with life's lessons.
...when you SPIN it is. Every race against a Democrat goes beyond the present election; it's an incremental advance.

Quibbling about the timing of investigations seems to be of little use. Of course, I don't doubt that had she made the complaints earlier some would have been complaining about that as well.
It's not the timing of the investigation that is in question, it's the timing of the complaint(s).
How did you ever get the idea that complaints would be investigated before an election? Never happens.
How did YOU ever get the idea that I thought the complaints would be investigated before the election? You make the complaint BEFORE the outcome of the election has been determined. You challenge the rules before the hand has been dealt.
That was astounding, was'nt it! No Fraud in that election..it was all Republicans...9 of us started that race and it was really a great deal of fun. My $100 limit on campaign contributions didn't help...
Believe me, if you've ever ran for ofice, running against Republican's in a Primary is a pretty much 'to-the-rules' fight. Democrats have no low level...like when I used to box...an opponent who brings an 8 foot 2x4 into the ring is kinda' hard to beat.
(Wait a minute, was the word 'astounding'8% meant as a JAB? Gosh, I feel real bad...you've hurt my feelings...)

In this case one can see violations and misdeeds and suck it up then a bunch of egregious activities could have been the .... thus the complaint comes after the election.

We had North Carolinians voting in the election and we have received a plethora of unsolicited opinion from Michigan. : )
