Speaking in the aftermath of the presidential election, Democrat radio host Garrison Keillor says he is on a quest to take away the right of born-again Christians to vote, saying their citizenship is actually in heaven, not the United States.

Keillor, host of the popular National Public Radio show "A Prairie Home Companion," made the comments during a speech at Chicago's Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and during his radio monologue the Saturday after the election.

hope he keeps this up and that NPR and others tell this story over and over. then I hope some judge tells people that gay marriage is a free speech issue and can't be denied. that will cement the image of the out of control for twenty more years.

Not to go off on a tangent but the Rockefeller Chapel seemed like such an oxymron that I has to see what other odd things might go on there. I wasn't disappointed:

(check out the very last sentence of the post)

Morning Prayer
Join those seeking respite, solace, inspiration and centering. Savor the regular infusion accorded those who participate in intentional devotion. Daily morning prayer is held Monday-Friday from 8 - 8:15 a.m. All are welcome to join in this Taizé-based liturgy.

Studs Terkel
May 2005 - TBA Mr. Terkel will continue the Chapel's Religion and Violence series. Free. For moreinformation, call 773-702-7059.

AIDS Quilt at Rockefeller Visitors to Rockefeller through March 15 will be treated to an exhibit of 6 squares of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Each square contains memorial panels that were created by family and friends of people who have died of AIDS. Please take a few minutes to stop by and experience the creativity and eloquence of what has been called the largest Folk Art project in the world. The entire Quilt was last displayed in 1996, on the Mall in Washington, DC, stretching from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol building. With more than 44,000 squares, the NAMES Project invites organizations to display one or more squares. The Chapel staff requested squares that included the panels of the these five people who were known and important to us. For more information about the Quilt, go to: www.aidsquilt.org.

Tim Warner, my beloved life partner, was a man full of fun-loving energy. He was the Southeast Michigan Regional Director for Consumer's Power Co., and gave of his time and energy serving the city council, public schools, recycling committee, and beautification commission for Ferndale, Michigan, served as a mentor to students in the Detroit public schools, and served as a volunteer with several AIDS organizations in the Detroit area. Tim was a spouse, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and he exuded warmth and love to everyone he met. He loved gardening, playing the piano, crossword puzzles, and stargazing during camping trips. I designed the panel with the help of two friends, Cheryl and Colleen. Our cat Spike died 1 month later, and Spike is also in the panel.

One by one, all the media stars that the MSM has pushed on the American public all these years, have failed us and shown themselves wanting (i.e., to be total a**holes.) I'm at the point where I don't trust any media star.

After canceling cable TV, I've been hanging on Christian radio, TV and conservative net sites for my news.

Well I think our suspiscions are confirmed about just how devoted to liberty these liberal pinheads are. Keillor for his part is boring old wind bag. I find his radio program drier than a good Sherry. Hey Keillor move to Canada!

Exceedingly disturbing looking individuals who have radio shows that have long since lost their humor should retire.

It's worth reposting...I emailed this to the show two weeks ago...

Look, he won.

The GOP now owns the White House, the Senate, the House, most of the governorships, and soon will have the Supreme Court. And in two years, we'll have the 60 votes we need to get business done. People don't want what the Democrats are selling. It's a marketplace. Your can of beans has been judged as inferior. And your response? Call your consumers idiots, and relable the same can of beans for the next time, when it will be the same product it was...and older.

This week, I have listened to Democrats, who wail about "tolerance", call me an idiot. My Christian faith has been belittled, my beliefs pooh-poohed, and my values dismissed. I have never seen such a bunch of sore losers in my life, except last time your candidates were tossed out. And when I flip on the radio, looking for Mr. Folksy Mark Twain, I get the same ridicule. Tonight, I was likened to a witch.

Garrison, you have witnessed the decline, crash and burn of the Democratic Party. Your Party was founded on protecting the little guy; it helped bust the trusts and bring down the robber barons. FDR cared about small town values, and worked to protect the weak. And yet, the New Democratic Party defended a rich, powerful white guy who abused and possibly raped women. You ignored a little thing called perjury; Hell, most of your congressmen wouldn't even walk to the Ford building to view the evidence. FDR wouldn't know you people. And then, when a majority of American voters says your values aren't theirs, you snidely make fun of them, because of course, the majority only rules when it confirms the New Democratic Values.

Brother, I listened for twenty years. I know the people in Lake Woebegon like my own family. And you have gone from being a kind, gentle teller of folk stories into just another bitter Democrat. But that's OK. Because what I always suspected has become true. Democrats will never wake up and sell what people want. Zell Miller is the best hope you have, and you snub his counsel. You, and the Clintons, and Democratic leadership will go right on relabeling that same old can of beans that nobody wants to buy. And speaking as a Republican, that's just fine. You can call the beans Progressive, but they're just reheated Liberal.

A year or so ago, you created a song that proclaimed "We're all Republican now!" Well, not quite. Only about 52% of us. But give us some time. Any keep right on doing what you do. And feel free to go right on making fun of more than half of us. See how that plays out in '08.

I agree. I think he was trying to be funny and actually making fun of liberals in this case. He is a dim, but, he makes fun of them also. But, I do wish he would stick to people and leave out the politics....he isn't that good at it.

I am so tired of them castigating evangelical Christians for the results of the election. The "moral" vote was only a small part. I think they keep harping on this "straw man" to draw attention away from their own failed attempts to appeal to the average American.

Hitler used the Jews as his "enemy." Now it appears the far left are using "Conservative Evangelical Christians."

My wife Ann has been a listener of his for a couple decades. When we heard the report she brought up his monologue online. It was way too much. She wrote him announcing he has lost her.

Add the word Jew to the list, because they are really Israeli citizens....after all we can't have anyone vote who may disagree with Messrs Keillor
